If Jesus rose from the dead why would it matter if his remains were found?

Was it his soul that rose or his intact body? I know the Bible says Jesus has an eternal body etc. but I always thought that his soul rose, leaving his physical body behind and gaining a spiritual one.

I want to answer your question, but I'll have to do so using some Bible verses. I do later explain about this director's findings. I do ask that you look up these verses to see for yourself and to better explain this to others asking the same.


In the book of John, chapter 20, we read that the tomb that Jesus was buried in was found with just the linen (burial) cloths in it. Jesus' physical body had been raised. 1Corinthians 15:6 states He was seen by many(over 500 people) after His resurrection. Thomas, one of His aostles, actually put his fingers into the holes of Jesus' hands and side (John 20:24-29). It was His physical body Thomas did this to, not the risen soul. Jesus ascended into Heaven in His physical body (last verses of each Gospel).There was no point after His resurrection that He transformed to a soul/spirit, which cannot be seen. That's the hope He gives us today - that we can have eternal life through obedience to Him because He was risen.


Back then, if you were wealthy you owned a tomb or burial plot. Jesus' family was by no means wealthy. He was buried in Joseph of Arimethea's tomb because Joseph was a very wealthy man and a secret disciple of Jesus (John 19:38).


What this director claims is Jesus' family tomb cannot be so because of the wealth issue. Mary, Jesus' mother, lived w/the apostle John after Jesus' death as was custom back then. Jesus requested while on the cross for John to care for His mother (John 19:25-27). It's historically recorded that she lived w/John until her death.

If his remains are found (and are proven to be his), it proves that he didn't rise from the dead.
Reply:yeah I don't see how it proves anything because most people do believe Jesus did exist. They just do not believe he was anything more than an average man with a message.

Reply:You've not read Mark 16:8 and following very closely. Jesus' crucified body reanimated. The disciple Thomas was even offered the opportunity to put his fingers in the nail holes and his hand in the spear wound. As Paul said, "If Christ be not risen then ye remain dead in your sins." But it seems to me that if believers are so committed to something that defies the laws of physics and biology like a three day dead body being reanimated, then it will take much more than someone's claims they found the body of Jesus to convince Christians they've been suckered. They required no evidence to believe and they will believe no evidence to the contrary.
Reply:Jesus body rose in a justified state, When he ascended to heaven he then had a glorified body, Jesus literal body was resurrected, not just his spirit.

His entire body rose from the dead. Satan is trying to disprove that through none believers. Satan hopes that this will sway those, whom may be riding the boarderline of faith, to his side. This act is pretty desperate. In the book of Acts, Paul had an encounter with a false teacher named Ben-Jesus. for all we know this could be his tomb.

Any bones found professing to be Jesus' is a fabrication and an attempt to arouse the public's interest for monetary and devilish gains.

Jesus did rise physically from the dead.


So it is an impossibility for these bones to belong to the Jesus who is Savior of the world.
