Pete rose?

i was thinking about what the tv said yesterday and people kept complaining about why didn't pete rose get a chance to be in the hall of fame and i looked at his stats and i think he was a great player but not hall worthy.he barely broke 300 for bating average and he never hit more then 16 homeruns in a season.sure he hit a heck of alot and holds that record but even micky mantle said big wow wasn't most of them singles.when ty cobb had the record he had a life time batting average of 360 plus.rose only hit 348 once.he was just a good ballplayer that played a long time. give me your honest opinion

Pete rose?
I've never seen a rational argument that Rose is not Hall-worthy based upon his statistics and performance. I have no doubt that he played more than well enough to merit a plaque.

Were it not for the Special Circumstances of his own making, that is. The Hall doesn't want him.

But unworthy absent the Special Circumstances? Nonsense.
Reply:Baseball is probably the easiest sport to get into the hall of fame not to be racist so pardon if i offend you but for the white people of the past it was much harder for a black man to do it if your name wasn't robonson. Rose deserves it he has more than 3000 hits barry bonds hasn't done that.
Reply:He was a sure-fire, first ballot HOFer, but blew it by living a lie. Rose - as a player - was a throwback to the days of Cobb. Additionally, he played in an era when it was more dominated by pitchers...this wasn't the juiced era in any form.
Reply:Ah..... but Pete Rose is the Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, or at least his records are ( a record, after all, is still a record) , he however is NOT an inductee.
Reply:He is the all-time major league leader in hits! Very Hall of fame worthy!
Reply:I think he belongs in the HOF stat wise. His stats are respectable. His off field activity wasn't.
Reply:Pete Rose is the all-time leader in career hits he needs to be in the Hall of Fame.
Reply:He's the all time hits leader, he belongs in there.
Reply:There is absolutely no question that Pete Rose should be in the Hall of Fame. The man played for 24 seasons with a career:

.303 Batting Average

.409 Slugging Percentage

.375 On Base Percentage

4,256 Career Hits

2,165 Career Runs

1,314 Career RBIs

1,566 Career Walks with 167 of those being intentional

.987 Fielding Percentage in 15,741 total chances

17 time All-Star and appeared in 6 World Series

Pete Rose played in more career games than anyone ever.

National League record for most career doubles: 746

National League record for most career runs: 2,165

MLB record for playing in the most winning games: 1,972

Only player in Major League history to play more than 500 games at five different Positions:

1B (939)

2B (628)

3B (634)

LF (671)

RF (595)

MLB record for most total bases by a switch hitter: 5,752

Major League record for most singles: 3,215

Major League record for most career hits: 4,256

Not every player is in the Hall for being a power hitter. Pete Rose played 150% every game that he played in. He made some bad choices as a manager but that shouldn't take away from what he did on the field.
