Literature Question concerning "A Rose for Emily" by William Faulkner?

In "A Rose For Emily" by William Faulkner, what is the significance of the rose as mentioned in the title? Does the rose represent someone in the story? Is it symboic of something in the story?

Literature Question concerning "A Rose for Emily" by William Faulkner?
The rose is a symbol of a better time for Emily -- a time when there was love (or at least what she thought was love) in her life. Now, the rose is the symbol of hiding the decay - covering the stench - from the body she keeps in her home. Pax - C
