Putting a Ceiling Rose into the Loft?

Hi,

I'm installing a new lamp in my bathroom and it doesn't have space for the Ceiling Rose so I wonder if I can just pull the cables into the loft and connect it there, leaving the two the lamp needs behind.

I'm quite nervous about doing this as the Ceiling Rose is not very protected and the loft has insulation so it cries Fire Hazard. Is there an equivalent box that I can use to replace the Ceiling Rose? How is it called?

Thanks

You can use a 5 amp junction box or a ceiling rose if the fitting is metal then you must include an earth don't worry about part p for a single fitting just make sure that the box or rose is fixed to a joist and the top is on
Reply:OK then remove the cables from the rose and connect in a circular connector /junction box with a lid. This can be screwed for safety to a joist or rafter. the two cables (switched live and neutral) can be fed directly through the ceiling to the light fitting.
Reply:As your are asking this question i'm sure you'fr not aware of the Part P electrical regs.

You should get a qualified part p electrician in as your insurance may not be valid.
Reply:A normal ceiling rose is sealed and will not be a fire hazard.

The box you ar looking for is called a NL9025 and is available from Newey And Eyre electrical whole salers. You will need 20mm stuffing glands to route the cables through and completely seal the box though
