Who rose quicker to superstardom Madonna or Britney?

I was having a debate with a friend recently over who rose to superstardom fame quicker, Madonna or Britney.





I will just go ahead and say I am the one who said Britney did.


Just hear me out.


I am NOT saying "who has better talent" - in my opinion thats Madonna.


I am NOT saying "who will be around longer" - also in my opinion thats Madonna


I am NOT saying "who do you like better?" - thats Madonna by a long shot as I can't stand Britney's songs...(Toxic is good but thats it)





BUT what I am saying is, in my opinion she came out of nowhere to stardom much faster than Madonna did. In fact I remember Madonna being around as a B-list star for a little bit before she broke out.





So in your opinion, and once again this is not "who is better" but, who rose to superstardom quicker? Maybe I'm wrong?

The big difference is that Madonna came out in the early 80s, way before talent shows like Idol and the like. When Britney came out in the late 90s, pretty much everyone could get a record deal and have a try.





Madonna made it on her own, proving her talent, while Britney was manufactured.


Another prove of that: Madonna wrote her own songs from day one, Britney has only written a few so far.
Reply:You are right. Madonna struggled for years before finally ''breaking out''.
Reply:I think Britney did, she was pretty much created. Madonna has true talent, she paid her dues, she succeeded because she did a lot of really good material. Britney is a creation like Paris Hilton, there's just not much there.

Reply:Brittany got stardom quicker because she got manufactured for stardom, Madonna sang at the hacienda in the early 80,s for a promo and reaction test, she denies it bit its true,
Reply:It seems that Britney rose to superstardom quick because she is still young. But you have to realize, Britney started out at a very young age. So it did take her awhile to reach stardom quality. Madonna was probably much older when she started. I think Britney worked just as hard, (or harder) as Madonna to reach her stardom.

Instant Classic. You have to remember it came out in the early days of videos %26amp; I don't think anyone ever used the word "Virgin" in a major song title before that.





It was as ground-breaking as Nirvana's Smells like teen spirit.





Oops....was just a totally forgettable bubble-gum pop song, with a bunch of people dancing in a studio.
Reply:If you remember she was on the mickey mouse club with christina aguilera and justin timberlake, and jc chasez. Madonna came out of nowhere and is still going strong. I like brit. not the new brit, but hey she is entertaining.
