Does his MLB banishment extend to baseball cards made by the big companies like Topps and Fleer? Like they are not allowed to mention his name or show a photo of him on a tribute or honary card? For instance: I was thinking should a future player break Rose's all-time hits record and Topps produces a card for the milestone, would it say on the back of the card "He breaks the all-time record last held by Pete Rose" or would they get around it by saying "He breaks the all-time record that stood unbroken since 1986?"
Is Pete Rose also banned for life on future baseball cards?
Yes. All baseball cards are officially licensed by MLB.
Pete has been banned from MLB which officially makes him ineligible to appear on any and all MLB baseball cards and products.
Reply:Pete could always make his own baseball cards of himself. lol
Reply:I believe that baseball card manufacturers are licensed by MLB. If so, then, I would imagine that Pete Rose will not appear on any future cards as long as his lifetime ban is still in effect. But this is a good question. MLB does not want Rose to make any income from the sport, so allowing him to have a card that he could autograph at sports shows would be going against their wishes. I think the answer is Yes - banned from ball cards.
Reply:The card are licensed through MLB and the Players' Association, so anyone banned from baseball would not have new cards produced for them.
If Rose is alive at the time of the new record holder, he could not take part in any official ceremony - unless gtanted a waiver gy the commissioner's office - but his name/totals could be mentioned in the text of the card, since such stats are in the public domain and has not be stricken from MLB records.
Reply:nope and what a nice guy talked to him
he is a real player and what a handshake
Reply:Yes, that is how it works. Fleer and Topps no longer will produce cards when a player is banned. Hold on to any of his cards if you have any/
Reply:I don't know what the big deal is with Pete Rose. He did his time and aren't we supposed to move on. Most people have already decided on his fate and would not give him a job in baseball anyway.
Reply:Rose's ineligibility is not "for life" -- it is "permanent". This is an important distinction many people get wrong. Rose drawing breath, while obviously an important bonus to him personally, makes no difference to MLB and his status thereto.
Rose's status means that MLB will not (or at least should not) license any entity to include Rose in the merchandise or marketing. In particular, Rose cannot appear in any official uniform. When he portrayed Ty Cobb in a movie in 1991 (the made-for-television "Babe Ruth", NOT the one starring John Goodman), MLB did not allow him to appear in a Tigers uniform; instead he was in street clothes. Topps did produce a small (12 cards IIRC) promotional card set, but this was allowed because Rose appeared as himself and not as a uniformed ballplayer, and Topps (or the movie production company; not clear, nor critical) had secured permission from Rose to use his image.
Any card company (and in baseball, there's only two right now, Topps and Upper Deck, which owns the remains of the Fleer brand) COULD produce a Rose set, but there would be restrictions and concerns. One, they'd need to get image licensing directly from Rose or his representatives. Two, they could not portray him in uniform (or greatly risk having MLB's lawyers get involved). Three, it would be risking burning bridges with MLB -- a vital licensor -- to do so. There's no potential gain worth the risks involved.
Rose could, I think, be mentioned by name. MLB certainly doesn't deny he exists, that he played, and that he put up a lot of numbers. They just refuse to include him in any official promotional materials or merchandise (unless MasterCard is sponsoring the event, in which case they've granted him participatory waivers, twice; well, money does talk).
Joe Jackson's situation is similar; he is not supposed to be included in any merchandise. Upper Deck did produce one or two cards of him a few years back and caught a lot of under-the-radar flack for it.

I was at a local garden show and they were having a few plants that were coming up next season. There was this one beautiful rose, a Mardi Gras Rose, and I want it now. Please help me find it! Thanks.

Replanting a rose shrub from a rose shrub cutting?
With your best answer, how do you take a cutting from a rose shrub and replant it, so it will grow into another one? Please give specific details and if you know a good source for this info, tell me!
Replanting a rose shrub from a rose shrub cutting?
Most roses are grafted onto a hardy rose root stock. Therefore you would have to graft your cutting on to a hardy root stock.
Reply:For some it is easy, some it is not. I have found it is easiest for a rose with large, arching branches to scrap some of the green skin away and pin into the soil.
Other roses, shrub roses rather than hybrid teas, take an 8" cutting similar to a pencil in diameter about the June 10, use rooting hormone and pot in a shady area. Another good time to try this is the beginning of September. If taken in the fall, mulch well at the start of winter.
I have found roses the most difficult to root of all perennials.
There is an excellent book on plant propagation by Ken Druse, something like "The joy and Art of Plant Propagation."
There is a section on rose propagation in it.
Reply:In the fall, take a cutting, dip the cut end in rooting powder and stick it into the ground. Cover with a clear canning jar and in the spring you will have a new rose plant. This is the best way. Use the same procedure in the spring except don't use the canning jar. Fertilize and keep moist. WARNING: This won't work if the rose is a hybrid.

Shoeless Joe Jackson, Buck Weaver & Pete Rose?
So many people say it is unfair that Major League Baseball refuses to reinstate Rose. However, Rose admitted to the charges and agreed to sentencing. Joseph Jefferson "Shoeless Joe" Jackson and George "Buck" Weaver were acquitted in a court of law of any wrongdoing in the 1919 World Series or the Black Sox scandal. Baseball banned them anyways and they still are unable to be inducted into the Hall of Fame though both are long dead - so doesn't a lifetime ban end with death? Yet these guys are still on baseballs banned ineligible list. Have baseball "fans" forgotten their history when they say Rose should be inducted but forget players like Jackson or Weaver? Weaver, also called "The Gingerbread Kid" tried to clear his name all the way up until he died. So - your thoughts on this? I say NO TO ROSE unless there is justice for those like Jackson and Weaver. And please - educate yourself on their situation before you rush to judgment. Get more info on Jackson at www.blackbetsy.com
Shoeless Joe Jackson, Buck Weaver %26amp; Pete Rose?
I don't believe Pete Rose should be in the hall of fame, he knew what he did was wrong when he was doing it, and he did it anyways. I understand he is remorseful now, but believe it is only because he got caught and is now suffering the consequences.
Buck Weaver was so obviously innocent it is sad. You look at his stats during the 1919 world series and if you still think he was trying to throw a game then clearly you don't know baseball. It was a dark day in baseball when they banned a man with so much talent and such great character that he resisted the pressure from his fellow players.
Shoeless Joe was a little bit more of a grey area. He never fully understood what was going on, he was a bit of an outcast on the team, and was pressured into going along with it. Arguably one of the best ball players ever to play the game, I don't believe he truly understood what he was doing was wrong or even what he agreed to do.
The acquital in the legal courts means nothing, it was a bigger fix than the series. There is no doubt the series was fixed and most of the players on trial were guilty, but they were tried as a group and all were acquitted.
Reply:These are bs b.c were gonna let steriod users in the hall of fame but one who leads in hits and gambled is out and one with the third best career average is kept out and didnt kno that he was set up. it is distgusting
Reply:Unless NEW evidence emerges, a ban from baseball is permanent and should be. There are all kinds of theories about the Black Sox 8 and even about Pete "No I Didn't Yes I Did" Rose, but the bans should stick unless A. Bartlett Giamati's or J.K. Landis' diaries are found and can change the outcome.
Reply:Buck Weaver should never have been banned in the first place. He never took any money. Basically Landis banned Weaver because he thought he should have tattled on his teammates, but I don't think it's realistic to expect a guy to do that.
Reply:Shoeless Joe Jackson and players from that era could not even read . Baseball was completely different in those days. Having Lou Gehrig play major league baseball ,since he was a college graduate or student from Columbia University was cause for excitement in those days. By the time Pete Rose started betting for his team as a manager he could influence the outcome of games he bet on whether he bet to win or lose. He was a complete sleaze for doing that!
Reply:I think the offences at the time may have been comparable, but looking back into history is another thing.
I agree, Rose shouldn't be in because of betting on baseball. He was doing it for kicks and to make extra money while Jackson and Weaver may have done what they did because they knew not participating may not have made a difference and they would lose out on money that was worth a fortune back then.
I guess it's a bit like the analogy of stealing. It's wrong, but if you do it to feed your family, then it's less wrong.
I don't think I would be upset at Jackson and Weaver getting in at all (I am not aware of weavers accomplishments to be enshrined, but Jackson certainly had the criteria to be admitted)
Reply:I say it like this, all three deserve to be enshrined on their on the the feild accomplishments. If they want to note that they werre banned from baseball for gambling then do it but let all three into the hall. Pete Rose is a horrible person and should NEVER be allowed to be involved with baseball again but at the same time he should be enshrined for his amazing accomplishments.
Reply:i agree with you shoeless joe jackson should have been in the hall of fame he could have been so much better and he did better then anyone in the entire world series i mean i know he was offered the money but he refused it and almost single handedly won some of the games that he had played in the world series you can go to one of my friends sites to support him but atm i forget what it is called
Reply:I thouroghly agree. Weaver and Jackson were both acquitted in a court of law. They deserve induction. Rose on the other hand, finally admitted his gambling and cheating I would continue to leave him out until his death. I also agree a lifetime ban should end when one's lifetime ends.
Reply:jackson and weaver should be in. rose should also be in for what he did on the field.
Reply:Jackson and Weaver were as guilty as sin and they knew it. Just because they were acquitted doesn't change that fact.
Besides. Who in the hell is going to go through all that trouble just to put two guilty dead men in the hall of fame? Nobody.
As for Pete Rose, he is a dead issue that people really need to get over and stop bringing him up. Like Jackson and Weaver this to is a dead issue.
Reply:Good grief, can't we have some standards? Just a few?!
Pete Rose was betting on games he was coaching, for heaven's sake. How is it hard to understand that he should be banned for life? If he had any class, he would agree and be a man about it.
Shoeless Joe and George Buck Weaver should have more of a chance, but for the integrity of the game, let's just leave it the way it is. If we let them in, we will have to listen to Pete Rose more than we already do ..............and any amount is too much.
I do agree with you in principle................they got a rough deal.
Reply:You make the common mistake that the ineligibility of all three men, plus the other six Black Sox, plus a few others (Hal Chase the best known), are "lifetime" expulsions. Not so -- they are "permanent", a duration which has not yet expired for any of them.
No one much forgets Jackson; he and Rose are irrelevantly but continuously linked by the apologists (of either one), and Jackson benefits from having been portrayed, in a starring role, in a treacly, soppy movie about his plight. Point, the situations of Rose and of Jackson %26amp; Co. have nothing to do with each other, but the apologists have no ideas other than "whaaa! it's unfair to BOTH of them" in the dead hope that quantity of whining will overwhelm the total lack of quality for their positions. It does not work, it never will work, but they keep at it.
Jackson was complicit, he knew what was going on, and this is more than enough to warrant his status (MLB Rule 21 spells it out). His testimony, available on the website cited, makes this crystal clear. So was Weaver, although he at least tried to notify authorities about the plot. Rose did his deeds as well.
The charges brought in court against the Black Sox were not the exact same reasons why Landis expelled them, and the commissioner doesn't have the same burden-of-proof requirements that does the law. One can make a case that Weaver was railroaded, and really that would be the place to start on any (pointless) quest to reinstate any of the Black Sox, but everyone wants to start with Jackson, and that is, by now (nearly 90 years), a proven loser of an approach.

Who created rose-shaped perfume bottle?
Alright, back in the 90s I had this perfume. The bottle was shaped like a rose stem with a pink rose-flower shaped cap. When you take the cap off that's where the sprayer is. I can't find this item anywhere it's as if it never existed. It was a very sweet perfume, and cheap I think. But I just want to know what brand it was, maybe that will help me find it. Thanks!

Can I keep my rose bush alive indoors?
My husband bought me a red rose bush. The temp. outdoors has been in the 40's in the day and in the freezing 20's at night. It it too cold to put it outdoors. I have no idea why the stores are getting their flowers like this out to sale this early.
I need to know if I can somehow keep the rose bush alive inside my house? And if this is possible how do I do it? '
Also I'd like to know if the rose bush stays alive all spring, will it be okay to re-plant it outdoors when the weather is warm? Or would it be too weak since it was raisced indoors to stand the heat from outdoors?
Any info. you can find about these things from somewhere online would be great too. Thank you !!
Can I keep my rose bush alive indoors?
The nursery I work at gets most of their rose in during mid/late winter, they are bare rooted and we pot them up and put out in the retail area where the potting mix freezes then thaws, but the roses survive as they are dormant with no leafy growth
Planted in the garden Roses are extremely tough/resiliant plants
In my part of NZ winter temps can vary from -5 to -15dg C
Reply:I think it can go outdoors if you apply heavy mulch. l did 30 during the cold months here and they are starting to leaf already. Place in the sunniest spot on your property. They need 6-8 hours sun daily. Feed them generously.
Sounds like you made a great choice to marry a man that buys you roses.
Reply:Is this a rose bush that is out of dormancy and in full leaf and bloom?
if so, you're correct - the freezing temps will damage it. You can put it in a sunny window for a week or two to enjoy the flowers, if it has any. Then you will need to acclimate it to the outside temperatures gradually.
Ideally, I would put it in an unheated room with a south-facing window (lots of light - but cool temps). A utility room or breezeway, that protects it from freezing would be good. Keep it there for a week or so.
Then I'd move it to a protected location outside - covering it during light frost warnings, moving it into a garage or unheated inside space for hard freeze warnings.
When the danger of hard freezes is past, plant it in the ground.
You might also try just leaving it in your house to enjoy it - if you have a very bright sunny window, and planting out after it's warmed up. Roses need a lot of sunlight - and that is what usually does them in when they are inside for too long - most houses are not bright enough for them.
Next spring, assuming it survives, it will stay dormant on its own through winter, and not leaf out until it warms up, so it won't need "coddling" next spring.

Help! My rose salve is literally melting!?
Where I live, there has been a lot of hot weather.
My older sister says I should put the rose salve in the fridge.
Should I put it in the fridge?
What can I do about my rose salve?
Help! My rose salve is literally melting!?
ah, yes, the hot weather dilemmas.
Yes, you should put anything that has a jelly-like consistency into the fridge or freezer to prevent melting. Not only does it keep it all together, it feels lovely when you put it on.
Reply:This happened to me too when I left it in my car accidentally on a hot day! It actually firmed up on its own after awhile...putting it in the fridge should be ok too!
Reply:I think you should put it in the fridge, or better- freezer.
Reply:yup. put it in the freezer! then it feels minty cool too after a couple of hours...i did that with mines and it worked :]

Can you find real rose petals for cheap?
I'm getting married later this year and I need lots of real rose petals. I am on a budget and I thought using rose petals would be cheaper than big formal arrangements, but so far everything I've found has been really expensive. I have to use the real petals because of the outdoor facility, so fake ones are out. If anyone knows what would be the best way to get a lot of real rose petals for cheap please let me know.
Can you find real rose petals for cheap?
Check with some of your local florists. If I were you, I would try some of the smaller shops first. When florists are processing roses, or making arrangements they are usually removing petals from roses to make them look better. Also, if roses "blow" in the cooler before they can be used, those roses would be discarded. Ask the florist if she can save those petals for you. You should start asking now, but not have her save any until a month or so before the wedding. I often saved petals for brides in a large plastic garbage bag in the bottom of my cooler; They "keep" a really long time. The only problem with this will be that the petals will be assorted colors; you can't very well ask a florist to separate colors for you. You might offer her a small fee for her trouble.
Reply:Consider going to a garden center that has a big selection of roses, and ask if they'd let you snip some blooms that are starting to droop or fade (and don't take the new blooms!). At a large enough garden center, you might get as many as 100 roses' worth of petals. Just be sure to buy something while you're there, to say "thanks."
If there are any public rose gardens around, you could ask the gardeners there to save any spent blooms for you, and then make a donation to the garden.
You could also ask neighbors who have roses, and bake up cookies as thanks.
Reply:Try whole sale florist street in your town if in a large city for roses also might want to change flowers, candles are a nice alternative
Reply:hmm maybe you should ask florists if they have any leftovers...and ask if you can pay them a nominial fee for them.
Reply:yes buy seed and grown them
Can you find real rose petals for cheap?

What do rose petals and skin have in common?
My son has a science fair project on Vitamin E slowing down aging. We got a book out and it says to use rose petals for our experiment. However to complete the project we need to know why we are using rose petals. What do they have in common with skin?
What do rose petals and skin have in common?
They are both porous... able to absorb the Vitamin E oil

I have one climbing rose bush on the north side of my house. After 3 years, I still do not have a rose.?
I done all that I was supposed to when I planted the rose bush.I prune each year and feed as I should. But, after 3 years, same ole thing, it turns green, climbs up my t.v. antenna, but does not produce roses. I have 2 different rose bushes on the other side of the house and they both produce roses each year.If I can't get a couple of good answers, I'll just dig it up. Thanks
I have one climbing rose bush on the north side of my house. After 3 years, I still do not have a rose.?
it needs to be moved to a sunny spot. however you do not want to prune it right now, that will only invite diseases and pests to kill it. you can trim the top some and move it now if you want, it really won't hurt it. just make sure you have the hole dug were you are moving it to ahead of time. hope this helps, and good luck
Reply:North facing ? Who advised you ? Some sun is essential for flower development and ripe growth. Why do you prune EVERY year. Allow climbing Roses to build a framework of branches, prune only for damage and shape.
Reply:Cut it back to approximately 3 feet. Prune all leaves and small branches. Transplant it to the west side of your house. Fertilize with Miracle Grow for roses according to the manufacturer's label. Keep it moist until established. Trim the bush every six weeks. Will flower on new growth. Hope this helps.
Reply:give it a good prune then dig it out ,and place it another position
Reply:The Rose Bush may need some sun. With it being on the North side it is not getting enough sun.

Have you planted a Rosa Rogusa Fence Rose?
I'm leaning more towards planting a thick fence rose for privacy in a small open fence place in my backyard. Just wondering if anyone has tryed this with this particular rose or a different rose, what the name of your fence rose and did it give you the thickness and height that you desired? I'm also looking for a rose that smells great. Thanks for any information.
Have you planted a Rosa Rogusa Fence Rose?
Hi!
It is one of the great fragrant roses.
Be sure you get your plants from a reliable nursery.
It is the rose that makes rose hips for tea .... and they are beautiful to look at as well as full of Vitamin C
Type in: Rosa Rugosa and on the Yahoo page take the second listing: Mallorn Plant of the Month: Rosa Rugosa
the web info: www.hort. net/profile/ros/rosru -
There are some lovely photographs and a sprawling display over a split rail fence that should tell you all about its growing habit ...and more!!!

Do You Like Requel Rose For A Girl??
These are all eccentric names, if unique is the way you want to go then pick any of those names. I like Christina Rose but if I had to choose from your list, I'd pick Tahliah Rose. Maybe spell it different like Thalia. It's going to be hard to pronounce it as it is.

Reply:Requel Rose is a really nice name. I really like it. I agree with some of the other users though, in that it looks better spelled Raquel but either way I wouldn't worry too much about pronunciation problems because people will find a way to pronounce a name wrong no matter how obviously its spelled. That's one of the reasons I really like this name, allot of people call me that because they think that's how you pronounce my name Rochelle. I've never really minded it much because Raquel is a nice name, really strong sounding. As for your other names, they're just OK in comparison to Raquel.
Good luck and congratulations on the baby girl.

Help with rose bush.?
I have a small rose bush, it is a clipping of a plant my Grandfather brought with him for Kentukey when my Momwas young, the origilanl plant has to 100 yrs old. I may have it in too small a pot, but something affected all my plants three months ago. They all dropped leaves and wilted.( chili, ficus, avacado, and my rose bush) I flushed them all with gallons of water for days, and all have come back well, lots of new growth. The roes plant is not as healthy as before, still growing but weak and small stems with only one bloom in two months. Some branches have turned black, and had to be clipped. I do not want to loose this plant, what can I do. I want to move it to a larger pot but not if it is too weak.
Help with rose bush.?
i have done clippings too.. they are forming new roots so alot of the energy of the plant is going towards the new roots.. because its a new plant try not to do too much.. i dont know where you live. so call a local nursery and ask when in the time of year for rose pruning (for me it is in the winter .. jan-feb.. when the rose is going dormant) ok so here is what i would do.. move the pot under a tree or on a covered patio.. this will help protect it from some harsh weather (but make sure the soil doesnt get too dry) when its the proper time for pruning .. repot your rose with good potting soil..be very carful of the new roots that have already started to grow... add about 1 1/2 teaspoons of epson salt near the roots (but not touching) this is a little secreat of rose growers.. epson salt help strong root growth..do not do a major pruning..clip just any dead growth, and take any leaves off the plant that has not fallen off.. this forces the plant to go into full dormant and at this time the plant is working on making new strong roots.. i would suggest you do not repot.. the plant probably has fewer new roots than you think. if the soil you have in the pot is not the best, try taking out some of the bad soil and adding good (on the edges of the pot.. without disturbing the roots) when you put the epson salt in the soil.. also put in some rose fertalizer.. is spring you will be surprised at the improvement and growth your rose will have.. repot next year (same time of the year.. good luck
Reply:Roses dislike being moved so the best time to transplant a rose is when it is dormant or not growing. That is usually in the late fall or early spring. In your area both times would be okay to move the rose. Never mind how you get the roots out. Have the new hole ready and plant it as soon as possible by mixing half a cup of bone-meal in the bottom of the hole for the roots to feed on.
Rose roots will continue to grow even when the temperature is 40' Most roses die when they are transplanted because they are not watered enough to keep the roots damp so make sure you give the rose water daily as it will take about 6 weeks for the new roots to grow back. Don't give it any fertilizer as you are trying to get roots to grow not the top part. If the plant droops or looks like it is dying, just ignore it and keep watering. Some roses may not start into growth again until the summer. Clipping off the dead branches is good. Also when watering do not get the leaves what this will damage them.
Reply:First of all, roses are deciduous plants and loose there leaves in the winter.
Second of all they do not like to have there root systems too wet and will die back as a result of this.(black branches)
When the plant looses its leaves again for winter, prune away any dead wood, re-pot into some new potting mix, one with a slow release fertiliser and only water when you feel that the mix has dried out.
When the plant starts to grow again in spring, give it a liquid fertiliser mixed in its water, every 2 weeks. While it is so small and is weak its probably not a good idea to let it flower as the plant has to put so much into flowering, so removing flower buds until it revives and grows to a size you are happy with.
Hopefully this will help your plant.

Why isn't Pete Rose in the hall of fame?
Pete Rose has 4,256 hits and he's not in the hall of fame. Sure he gambled on baseball but look at Ty Cobb who sharpened his spikes so he would stab the baseman when he slid into 2nd or 3rd base. Mickey Mantle was out all night drinking and cheating on his wife. Judging by these great players the Hall of Fame isn't a character hall of fame.
Pete is the all-time major league leader in hits (4256), games played (3562), and at bats (14,053). He won three World Series rings, three batting titles, one Most Valuable Player Award, two Gold Gloves, the Rookie of the Year Award, and made 17 All-Star appearances.
No one has the chance at beating some of Rose's records. There is no doubt in my mind that he deserves in the hall of fame. Anyone with this colorful of a career deserves to be in there. If he isn't allowed in the hall of fame maybe they should take Mantle, Cobb, etc out.
Screw the gambling issue its Pete effin' Rose. The only man worth the title of Charlie Hustle.
Why isn't Pete Rose in the hall of fame?
Pete Rose is the best. I am a big fan of his and always will be. He was a great ball player. He should be in the Hall of Fame. He could have done worse. There are other ball players I think should be taken out because of what they did.

It's no wonder our country has problems, we have no character. As long as they can dunk, hit home runs and score TDs, you think they should be allowed to do as they please, even if it's wrong. Report It

Reply:OK people listen now its common sense Pete rose is one of the greatest players to ever live i don't see a problem so he bet on games he didn't bet on his own team but its OK for Orlando cepeda to smuggle weed and he is still in the hall of fame give me a break vote rose in enough is enough Report It
Reply:Simply put he broke the rules of baseball. He killed the spirit of the game and the MLB has banned him for life. Lifting the ban is going soft in the public eye. They'l loose respect if they contradict themselves. Not going to happen. While his numbers are incredible he still broke the rules. (cough Bonds cough)
Reply:So what's your question??? He broke the rules.
Reply:pete rose is banned from baseball for life.
plain and simple.
that also means his "so called" records are also meaningless.
he even signed a statement agreeing to that ban, there fore admitting his guilt.
Seriously, pete rose needs to keep his mouth closed.
He shouldn't even be allowed in the HOF, not even as a paying customer.
Reply:dude, he gambled and threw games!! that's not what baseball is about! they said they'll let him into the hall of fame if he confesses, but he doesn't wanna... his loss!
Reply:he is banned for life and baseball doesn't want to unban him.
Reply:Exactally. He didnt effect the outcome of games like Barry Bonds is doing. I think it will be a disgrace for baseball to let Bonds in and not Rose.
AND HE DIDNT THROW GAMES, HE BET ON GAMES OTHER THAN THE ONES OF THE TEAM HE WAS MANAGING!
Reply:I tend to agree with you about the Hall of fame issue. Rose earned a spot in the Hall, I also feel the lifetime ban against him from returning to baseball is very justified. The ban from the Hall is probably more punishment though. Rose is tortured by his exclusion from the Hall.
As for the steroid babies (McGwire, Sosa, McGriff, Bonds and Palmiero) I feel they DO deserve to be banned from the hall and I also think their records should be stricken from the books. Rose as far as I know never used performance enhancing substances that were banned. These guys did. That cheapens their stats, their records and basball in general.
Reply:I must agree with you i think the hall of fame is doing a horrible job on this one, i wonder what they will do once barry gets there with the steroid issue, imagine all the money Cooperstown if pete rose would be inducted into the hall of fame by just being there, i think a lot of people would love to meet him, He deserves to be in the hall of fame but hopefully the veteran's committe will be smarter and vote Pete Rose into the hall of fame.
Reply:As much as I like Rose, there's no defending his conduct. He knew what he was doing was wrong and he knew the potential consequences in doing it.
You can't really compare Ty Cobb. Everyone admits Cobb was a horrible human being and that Mickey Mantle was no saint, but they didn't put the game into question by appearing to ever giving less than their best effort. With Rose, there's a question.
Finally, I don't really care if it's Pete effin' Rose or anyone else. We can't employ two sets of rules, one for superstars and one for the rest. Otherwise none of them make any difference.
Plain and simple, the reason Rose, nor any of the "Black Sox" aren't in the HOF is because their actions put the veracity of the game into question. And if you can't believe the game is being won or lost fair %26amp; square, it's no longer a game...
Reply:As part of a plea bargen with the Ohio Attorney General he is not suposed to have any contact with baseball. The Hall of Fame is part of basebal. Why Attorney General Montgomery has not remanded him to prison for speeking at training camp and takeing part in reunions is beyound me.
Reply:Because he got kicked out of baseball it elimenated his chances to go to the Hall of Fame

What does the song "Like the Rose" by B*Witched really MEAN?
*lyrics*
Every little word,
With every lesson learned,
I think I know why hearts are made of stone,
Every little pain,
Fans a bitter flame,
Nothing stops me loving you.
Can’t you see that we belong?
Oh how I want it to be,
So tell me do u feel the way I feel...
Baby like the rose,
Oh darling,
You put color in my life.
Baby take my heart forever,
‘Cause I don’t want to be afraid,
No No
Turn another page,
The story will never fade,
Sleep with thoughts of you until daylight.
When you’re far away,
Forever love will stay,
Keep this loving feeling deep inside.
Can’t you see that we belong?
Oh how I wanted to be...
Tell me do you feel the way I feel...
Baby like the rose,
Oh darling,
You put color in my life
Baby take my heart forever,
‘Cause I don’t want to be afraid
No No

What does the song "Like the Rose" by B*Witched really MEAN?
I don't know this song. Usually the rose is used a metaphor for something that is beautiful but has thorns that can cut you especially if not handled gently.
In the lyrics that you posted, it seem the writer is just referring to the color of the rose, usually red, meaning passion. But could also be referring to the different shades of the flower meaning a complex beauty.
The writer here is saying that she/he is the passion in the writer's life, the inspiration, reason for doing whatever they are doing.

Over Watered 8" Potted Rose...What should i do?
I bought a potted rose that is in about an 8" pott from the local grocery store and it came with the foil around the bottom. I kept watering it daily until i realized all the water was sitting at the bottom because the foil could not drain. since then i have put it outside to drain and it is looking pretty weak.(It has lots of green leaves, the roses are just shriveling up) What more can i do to make the rose better? Should i cut off the roses to concentrate its efforts towards making itself better?
Its a rose I Would Like to Keep in the pot and then plant after fourth of July?
What Can I Do?
Over Watered 8" Potted Rose...What should i do?
if the plant still has lots of green leaves, it sounds like its fine. the flowers won't last forever! but yes, it is a good idea to deadhead the plant. trim the flower off and cut down to the first set of 5 leaves after the flower. the whole life cycle of a plant is to make flowers to make seeds to reproduce. by cutting off the flower no seeds are produced, so the plant will make more flowers in order to produce more seeds! good drainage is KEY to a rose plants well being, so keep that in mind. take the foil off, and find a spot in the garden that's sunny and well drained.
Reply:Keep gambling on it. If you took it out of the foil and it is drained out, it may well recover, had a couple like that and they are several years old. If the soil is still really wet, depot it for a while and let the root ball air out and the soil dry.
Reply:Repot your rose in a larger pot and put it in the sun and give it a chance to dry out. Roses, even miniature roses get pretty big and need room to grow. Make sure your pot has drainage like holes in the bottom, a few stones or broken pots. Dead head your roses to the first set of "5" leaves. Dead heading to the next set of five leaves will promote new growth. Depending on how hot and windy it is you don't have to water a rose more than once a week. Give it a big drink. If it is really hot then you might have to give it a drink every other day. Once it is in the ground and established then you rarely have to water a rose at all. However, until it is established you will need to give it a good drink at least once a week. Roses will let you know when they are thirsty by drooping their leaves. Good luck

Beasly or Rose?
I know Beasly is an amazing player, but every who says Beasly over Rose obiously doesnt know much about basketball. They just say Beasly because he is talked among more in the media. Anyways.. Rose will play in his Home Town.
Beasly or Rose?
Derrick Rose. Bulls got Tyrus Thomas at the 4 position. Deng is at the 3 position, so one of them would have to be off the bench if Beasley comes off. While the Bulls do have Hinrich, he had a disappointing season, and Rose is a much better upgrade. Also, Rose is from Chicago, which brings him back there. Big men are important, but in today's game, PGs are having big impacts as seen in Steve Nash and Chris Paul.
Reply:Yeah, you're right. ANYONE who says Beasley over Rose knows ABSOLUTELY NOTHING about basketball...
Idiot.
Mike Beasley can do just about EVERYTHING. Most consider him a better overall player than Kevin Durant. He does everything better than Durant except shoot. Now please, tell me Derrick Rose is better than Kevin Durant...

Actually smart guy, Kevin Durant and Derrick Rose both shot forty-seven percent field goals during college, but nice try.
Reply:I think Rose is actually being talked about more, as he has been compared to Chris Paul and Deron Williams ad nauseum since the NCAA tournament ended. I think Beasley has a higher ceiling than Rose, but PG is a position that many teams are dying to to get a stud at. Rose should go first, even if Beasley might have slightly more potential.
Reply:none thet should stay and let their skills get more devloped and they should have an education also.their junior year wouldnt have been a bad time to leave. but that just makes it that much easier for dem unc tarheels we will not be denied of tha "ship"

Sending A Rose Via UPS?
Hi all! I'm interested in sending just one rose to someone via UPS Air 2nd Day Air. What would you recommend? Is it possible to cut the stem of the rose to have it fit in a smallish box, and attach some sort of water tube to the bottom that it would last two days? Any recommendations? Thank you!!!
Sending A Rose Via UPS?
It's possible, but not guaranteed that it would make it 2 days in a water tube. Florists will have water tubes you can probably buy from them when you buy the rose. Tell them what you are trying to do so they give you the largest tube they have. A lot depends on how much water the rose will suck up in transit. If it takes up all the water in the tube before it arrives, it will then be out of water and will probably wilt. Your best bet is to buy the rose and tube, take it home and put it in a vase overnight to let it drink up as much water as it wants (when they are new and fresh, they take up quite a bit of water at first). In the morning put the water tube on it and protect it from freezing if it is super cold where you are. Your florist should also have a clear plastic box for an individual rose, which you can then pack into a sturdier cardboard box for shipping. You're taking your chances that it will arrive safe and sound but that's my best advice for your best chances.
Reply:Yes, locate a florist in the area you want to send the rose and have them deliver it, it will most likely cost the same amount you are willing to pay UPS since their prices have risen

A question regarding Floyd Rose tremolo's and locking nuts.?
I have a question regarding Floyd Rose tremolo's and locking nuts. I recently bought a Floyd Rose kit (tremolo and locking nut), and the locking nut with that kit is an "R42". Now, I bought a fully loaded Ibanez neck, which to my amazement has a "R43" locking nut, which is slightly bigger than the R42.
Question is, will the R43 nut that came with the neck be fine for the Floyd Rose tremolo that came with the R42? Or will it only work with another R42 nut?
The R42 nut doesn't fit on the neck as the R43 does.
Cheers.

A Red rose or a Pink rose?
My partner's choice is the blood red rose...mine too.....
A Red rose or a Pink rose?
Red, cause it means love!!
:)
Reply:Talisman. It is a variation of a coral coloured rose.
The fragrance is heavenly. Many varieties of red
rose have been so overbred that they have lost much
of their scent. I love the look but I like the originality
of the talisman.
Pink makes me think of proms and baby girls.

Did Jalen Rose actually earn a diploma from the University Of Michigan?
I just saw him on ESPN's "1st %26amp; 10" and he is, doubtless, the biggest idiot ever to grace the analyst's chair. It was obvious that Skip Bayless was told to go easy on him...and I HATE Bayless. Rose must have repeated that he was a "Michigan Man" four times and it made me wonder if he actually earned that right. Rose is unwatchable at best. If he "earned" a diploma from Michigan, I will weep like a small child.
Did Jalen Rose actually earn a diploma from the University Of Michigan?
How many basketball players and football players turned analyst have this same problem though. I agree about Jalen Rose, he's a dope and if he weren't an ex-athlete he wouldn't be sniffing a chair in Bristol. A lot of these professional athletes are lucky they were blessed with their athletic ability - because their intellect, ability to articulate their thoughts and syntax is downright disgraceful. The graduation rates of major student-athletes is a joke and that's why when a guy like Kelvin Sampson gets in so much trouble for what happened it's disgusting. The NCAA acts like they care but all you have to do is look at the kids they allow to play big-time sports for big time schools. Pathetic.

Questions about Rose hair Tarantula Behavior?
I am one of the caretakers of a Rose Hair Tarantula and it has done soemthing we know nothing of. We have a half log hut in the terrarium and s/he has burrowed her/himslef into it. there is webbing around both ends of the hut there and it seems that she can't get out....We dont know that she can't but either way, is this normal behavior for a tarantula, particularly a rose hair? i know nothing of tarantulas. Please help! any and ALL advice/info relating to this and other behviors of the tarantula is GREATLY appreciated. thanks in advance!
Questions about Rose hair Tarantula Behavior?
They normally do that right before they molt or lay an egg sac. Most rose hairs sold in pet stores are wild caught, so it could even be gravid.
Do you have crickets in there? Tarantulas can get annoyed by excessive food items hopping around all the time, so another option may be that it has set up the webbing to get away from the crickets. In general, it's best to only feed 3-4 crickets once a week and to remove any uneaten prey the next day.
Here's a great care sheet that would be good for you to read through..
http://www.arachnoboards.com/ab/showthre...
That one's actually put together by tarantula experts. Some of the common mistakes new tarantula owners make are 1. Misting a rose hair. Rose hairs are from arid climates and will not in general like being misted at all. 2. Not providing a water dish. Tarantulas need to be able to drink water when they want to. A tarantula will not drown in it's water dish! Just use a shallow one like the kind sold for reptiles without a sponge in it. Sponges can harbor bacteria and inhibit your tarantula from getting a drink.
Leave your tarantula alone. If she was eating fine before, it wouldn't be unusual for it to fast for several months even. If you see it flipped on it's back, do not disturb it. They will flip on their backs to molt. The molting process can take several hours! So, don't get impatient and disturb it.
Reply:She may be trying to burrow in for the winter- how warm is your house? They also tend to go into protective mode (finding a safe place) if they are about to shed.
Also, it is normal for them to spin webs- my friend's would make herself houses of webs and usually lived in them.
Don't worry, your spider can cut through it's own webs if it wants to.

How long will this rose that i got bloom?
I have just bought a rose bush, its falled Fame!, and it says Grandiflora rose on the container. Its unlike one i ever bought, it grows 1 and half meters tall, and it has long stems, which is probably could for cutting. it has big, open pink flowers with about 30-36 petals. I have 3 stems all conected to root , and on the tip of each stem is the flower. I know that most roses bloom all summer (or most of the summer), but will this one? I'm afriad that after the blooms fall off it will just be a green shrub. is that the way it will be? ps, i live in ontario canada, zone 4/5. it might be a hybrid tea rose, It looks similar to this, but they are not identicle http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Chrys... . Tx in adance.
How long will this rose that i got bloom?
Hi, Your Grandiflora should bloom all summer, and bloom for many years if properly cared for. To promote new growth and new buds, after your flowers have bloomed ,trim them off. You cut at a 45% aAngle above a Five Leafed Leaf, that's where the buds form. Feed Rose and flower food in the spring, summer, and fall .In fall cut any dead wood out and branches that cross each other in the middle. Cut about one third back(I sometimes cut mine back to 2/3 or one foot off the bud union) And seal any branches that are bigger than a pencil with white glue or sealing compound. You need to pack yours for winter with straw, or hay. My bushes are now thirty years old and the main branches are bigger than my arms. Maybe that's where they get rosewood? Anyway ,my one Grandiflora has over three dozen flowers on it at all times! It's a big bush and is called Paradise. Bye
Reply:ok they will bloom all year round till frost if you prune them right
ok stop pruning them mid fall and then start again in spring after hard frosts have past.. you prune them like you would any other tea hybrid 3 leaflets down, cut at a 45 degree angle,at an outward facing bud..if the roses grow into themselves it gets poor air circ. and starts chafing..and more prone to diseases..cut the angle away from the leaflet though.
If you prune when the blooms fade, it will prompt the rose to rebloom. Pls feel free to contact me with any more questions you might have.. we love Roses so we are happy to share our knowledge!

ok stop pruning them mid fall and then start again in spring after hard frosts have past.. you prune them like you would any other tea hybrid 3 leaflets down, cut at a 45 degree angle,at an outward facing bud..if the roses grow into themselves it gets poor air circ. and starts chafing..and more prone to diseases..cut the angle away from the leaflet though.
If you prune when the blooms fade, it will prompt the rose to rebloom. Pls feel free to contact me with any more questions you might have.. we love Roses so we are happy to share our knowledge!
White & blue rose tat?
i want to get a rose with the colors white %26amp; blue (the meaning of the colors is why i want the rose mixed with those colors)......will the white ink last? and will it be bright white? i have fair skin like my aviator. (the tat has more details but i dont want to say because someone might steal my idea, lol) :-)
White %26amp; blue rose tat?
u mite ask the person givin u the tattoo about the ink and all cos i tink theres diff brands for the tattoo inks so i expect diff quality as well.
Reply:you will be able to see the white, but the lighter you are, the more it blends in. maybe you can outline the white areas so they "pop". the ink will last, forever!.
Reply:I dont see why it wouldnt last. and it will most like be a bright white unless you ask them to mix it a bit with the blue to kinda make it go from a darker blue to a baby blue to a white. its all up to how you want it, but I know people with white in their tattoo that has lasted. I personally dont have any white in any of mine so I cant really give first hand experience with it. sounds like it will be a nice tattoo though...good luck!
Reply:I had a tattoo done that had white ink in it and the white did not last at all. It ended up fading after only a few months. Also, it was not bright white when it was done. The rest of the colors in it, including blue, are still really bright, even after 4 years. I have also read that many skin types do not take the white ink. From personal experience and from other articles that I have read, I would choose another color besides white.
Reply:i av whoit ink in one of mine an av ad it about 4 years now and its ok u can still see the white
Reply:idk ask!!! a tattoo artist
Reply:Go to a good shop and talk to the artist.
Get the facts and get a quote....
Think Before You Ink
Reply:any color starts to fade. and if your already pretty fair skined...then just leave it. but the ide sounds awesome! Also..never share your compliet idea... lol

Deep Thought of a rose... Ladies?
If you are the type of guy who buys your girl dozens of rozes for no reason, then would that girl appreciate a single spectacular rose on a special occasion? Instead of buying my gf a dozen red roses as normal for a date, I bought her a single asian hybryd rose that was awsome for an anniversary... along with jewelry, but she seemed unimpressed by a single rose.
Deep Thought of a rose... Ladies?
My boyfriend buys me dozens of roses occasionally for no reason. I like it but I think a single rose has more meaning and is more romantic and I would appreciate that more. But I guess it just depends on the girl...maybe she was unimpressed because she is use to a dozen of roses and thought that she wasnt worth a dozen anymore! Who knows! Like I said, I guess it just depends on the girl.
best wishes :)

Reply:She an ingrate. Dump her or you'll be dealing with crap like that the rest of your life. Believe me, you'll have no trouble finding a girl who will appreciate you.
Reply:That's okay most guys don't get there girls anything anymore. On special occasion or not so she couldn't complain. At least she has some one that loves her. Don't feel bad and don't worry about it.
Reply:I'm gonna sum this up whether you like the answer/not: most females don't appreciate some things b/c they don't know the sentimental value of it. To me, this would mean a lot b/c a rose is better than 12. Why? Well, that single rose could represent the special person in your life whether being others. And, being number one is always better than being compared to others.
Maybe right now she's not aware of this, you could explain it to her. And then again, if she's shallow and materialistic, then I'm sorry but you're gonna have more problems in the future with thorns.
Reply:sounds to me like your gf is selfish, greedy or just unappreciative.. that is unless the rose you bought was all wilted and ugly and the jewelry you got her came from a gum ball machine.. then she would have a right to bit*h...
Reply:How can a lady be a guy? ;-P
Reply:next time cook her dinner, then after tell her you have a suprise 4 her but she has 2 wear blind fold!!!! take her hand %26amp; lead her into the bedroom where there are rose pedles all over the bed %26amp; floor!!!! %26amp; have a tray w/ all different types of massage lotions!!!
put on so romantic music!!!

Tattoo placement?? (Rose)?
I am getting a pink rose tattoo in honor of my Grandmother. I don't know exactly where to put it. I want it to be somewhat hidden. (Not on my foot, arm, or shoulders.)
I was thinking on the inside of my hip, or on my lower back. I know they both probably hurt alot, but that's fine. I need some ideas on where to put it, and how I can possibly embellish it. I want it to be an open rose.
Thanks!

Go talk to your tattoo artist.
Seriously.
They'll be able to offer much more help than any stranger on the internet.
Reply:Why not make it somewhere noticeable if you are honoring your grandmother?
Reply:I would go with the lower back or the inner thigh.
Reply:I have one on my back right under my shoulder blade so I can hide it when working but show it during the summer. I'd love to get one on my foot, they look cute there but I bet it really hurts.
Reply:if the tat is going to be in honor of your grandmother maybe you should get it somewhere that it shows
Reply:LOWER BACK!!! :]
Reply:i have one right below my bikkini line. it's kind of in the upper right corner of where my underwear covers up down there. (if you are looking at me). it's a personal place, but it's cute for just you. i also have one on my ankle, and i know you said no feet, but NO one notices it ever.
Reply:ya you should put it some where that can be hidden it all depense on how its going to look but i was going to saythat you should put it on your lower back it will look great dont do it all pink have some red in it you know my grandpa died too almost two years ago on the 26 and im getting a hawin flower that means something and means to me i know how you feel losing someone is not a good feeling it hurts bad inside and you cant see them or talk to them anymore its sad and frustrating so dont worry make that rose mean something to you hopefully it will work out on how you want it GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Reply:I would put it somewhere visible if its for your grandmother...but that's just me.
If you really have to keep it hidden; thigh, back, sides and feet are good places.
Reply:where is totally your decision. the shoulder is a good place it's really not that painful. bone is the most painful place. i would say to have the tattoo embellished with a filigree or vines around the rose like a frame. but not in black. either a soft yellow or green. good luck!

One White Rose?
In Vegas, how much would a single, white rose cost? I can't find anything on their flourist websites. (Oh-What color rose would you prefer to get? Going off of their meanings-not just color preference.) Thanks!
One White Rose?
I would just call up a local florist and see if they can send it to someone in Vegas, most have the ability to send flower by using another florist that's in the area you are sending it. If you are saying I love you romantically, a red rose, if friendship then a yellow rose. I think a red one would be nice, both in color and meaning. :)
Reply:Red roses mean romantic love; they're the "Valentine roses," par excellence.
Purple, coral and orange challenge red as the color for Valentine roses. The rose color meanings for these 3 are as follows:
The specific purpose of purple roses is to signify that the giver has fallen in love with the recipient at first sight.
Meanwhile, coral and orange roses signal desire.
The meaning of yellow roses is joy and friendship.
We express our gratitude and appreciation with pink roses....
While feelings of admiration and sympathy find words with roses that are light pink in color.
Peach is more ambiguous, as it can signify either sympathy or gratitude.
Their purity naturally enough lends to white roses the meaning of reverence and humility.
What about black roses? Do they exist and, if so, what is the meaning? While no jet-black rose exists, there are some of such a deep red as to suggest black. E.g., Rosa 'Black Magic.' Alternatively, some florists dry fresh roses and dye them black. And the meaning? There is some disagreement on this point. Many say black represents death and can thus be used as a symbol to express vengeance towards a foe. But others interpret that more liberally, suggesting as a meaning for black roses the death of old habits, thus signalling rebirth.
as to how much the cost?no idea.
Reply:well white rose means act of respect, purity or sympathy (so if someone hurt them self or something that would be good). i live in Vegas and i think the most you would pay for one single rose is six bucks depending on the shop and the color. i like yellow roses because they mean friendship and joy. pink is appreciation and of course red is love. just depends on the occasion.
good luck!

Does every rose have a thorn?
i am not so sure, i dont remember the last time i noticed a thorn on a rose that i bought the last one i bought was on July 10th. i can t quite recall but it was a white rose and it was pretty
Does every rose have a thorn?
yes, although that is a rhetorical question. Some roses don't have actual thorns, but there is some minor flaw. ( thus the statement every rose has it's thorn)
Reply:A few species of roses only have vestigial thorns that have no points.
Reply:yes i think
Reply:Some roses actually don't have thorns, but their stems are weaker then those that do.
Roses with thorns are stronger last longer and are larger.
Reply:I think that sometimes the florists take them off or something because sometimes there are and sometimes there aren't thorns.
Reply:Sure. You've just got to skirt them as best you can. It gets easier as one gets older; not making a big drama out of everything that is.
Reply:Yes, alot of florists remove them before they sell them.
Reply:not all
Reply:Nope! Not if you purchase them from A Flower Shop! LOL! ♥ :o)

When you smell a rose, what is THE THING which travells from rose to your nose?
A rose is a beautiful thing if you have eyes. It smells good if you have nose to smell. what is the substance or chemical or thing which tavells from rose to your nose. What exactly is SMELL- good or bad.
When you smell a rose, what is THE THING which travells from rose to your nose?
pollen
Reply:small particles that attach to things similar to taste buds.
Reply:Oils from the flower
Reply:chemicals which are present in the flower, probably in the nectar and petals.
perhaps in the rest of the flower
or in the pollen too
it probably also depends on the flower.
Reply:Actually, when you smell something you have a tiny microscopic particle of it in your nostrils. I am not sure about the chemical though.
Reply:A rose is rose - why do you bother for the name of the smell.
Reply:It's called the attar, seriously
Reply:The main ingredient is a chemical called 2-phenylethanol. Different types of roses smell different from others due to other ingredients. Perfumes that smell likes roses have phenylethanol in them. Roses also have geraniol. By the way, just like there are three primary colors, at least eight primary odors have been discovered.

Reply:Most pleasant smelling odors are called esters. For instance, a compound ending in -ate is an ester, here are some examples:
Ethyl Formate smells like rum
Ethyl Acetate smells like nail polish remover
Pentyl Acetate smells like bananna
Ethyl %26amp; Pently are both alcohols that in the laboratory can form most odors while using a carboxylic acid in the process of creating an ester.
Reply:The sweet smell of roses (some).

Butterfly n rose? lame or not?
i find it common for gals to have butterfly or rose tattoo..one of my gal fren is planning to get inked by end of tis week..she's askin me to pick few designs on butterfly or rose for her...how can i tell her that its super lame to get those 2 stuff...(altho i'm a gal myself) or maybe its just me...maybe the rest of the world thinks its okayy..i dunno..tell me plsss...
Butterfly n rose? lame or not?
tell her to go for the whole shebang and get a dolphin too.... then she will be a dead classy bird. One way ticket to tackisville me thinks!

Butterflies and Roses are not lame, a work of art from nature!
Ask her first to do Henna or those more longer lasting stick-on/peel off tattoos.
Reply:Personally I don't think it is lame, I have both, and I also think if that is what she wants to get, then let her get it. She is the one that is going to have to live with the tattoo, not you. It is ok for you to give her your opinion, but she going to get whatever she wants to get anyway.
Reply:I don't think they are lame either....I have a rose.....lame I know....but I'm a flower girl and also have a dasiey chain, a sunflower, an orchid, and few others tats......my rose is the only flash I ever went for, but I don't regret it all
Reply:Extremely common, to the point where it is a joke to where tats like that are a joke to the artists at the shop where I am an apprentice. People need to start getting better tattoos, because the tacky ones make those of us with awesome tats look bad.

She should get something that means something to her... not just a cool design in some tattoo book.

Is this rose "bush" worth keeping?
I have this rose bush that's not quite a bush. It's more like a single thorny stalk with one pink rose. Is this the remnant of what once was a bush? I don't know if there's much hope for this thing to be more than just a sucker-like growth. I don't want to destroy it, but I'd like to relocate it to another part of my property and replace it with a new fuller bush from the nursery. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Is this rose "bush" worth keeping?
Hello
KEEP IT. If you really wish to move it wait until the fall. Never destroy a plant if it still has some possibility of life in it, and in this case especially if it has a flower. Roses like full sun area's and if it is not getting at least 4 hours of direct light or 6+ hours of indirect that is why it looks sad. I would leave it there for now even though it is an eye sore. This fall cut it back as you normally would and mulch it in by covering the remaining stalks with leaves and wrapping it in burlap or placing a cardboard teepee over it with an open top. Next year as soon as the temperature warms up feed it Rose Tone by Espoma and continue to do so every six weeks for the entire year (every year). DO NOT use miracle gro or any other water soluble plant food because it makes the plant dependant on that feeding every time you water. By some epsom salt (yes for sore muscles) and sprinkle about a table spoon or two around the base of the plant, rioughly 2 inches from the stalk, now and then again next spring. The high levels of magnesium in the Espom salt help the plant with producing blooms. Don't give up hope just yet, if you do this process every year your rose bush will be lush and beautiful for years to come. If you see no improvement next spring within the first few weeks of the bush putting out new growth then it's a lost cause. Goodluck
Greenman
Reply:It could be a climbing rose just waiting for something to lean on. Try this - keep trimming it back as it grows down to where there are five leaves on a stem. As soon as the flowers are finished blooming, keep clipping them. Add some rose food which you can find at any discount or garden store.
Reply:Sounds just like a sucker. Although I have lots of roses, I have never tried to relocate a sucker. It's worth giving it a try. It may turn into a beautiful rose bush given the proper care and light requirements. If it doesn't work then you haven't really lost anything. You shouldn't have to worry about rooting because it should have it's own set of roots, but you may have to detach it from the mother plant or remains of the mother plant. You should be able to move it now, but make sure you water it every other day for the first couple of weeks and then every week for the rest of the season. Hope this helps a little.
If it is a sucker it won't improve if it just stays there. I have a sucker that has remained the same for the past three years. I simply haven't moved it because I haven't found the time. Good luck

Good luck
Literature Question concerning "A Rose for Emily" by William Faulkner?
In "A Rose For Emily" by William Faulkner, what is the significance of the rose as mentioned in the title? Does the rose represent someone in the story? Is it symboic of something in the story?
I appreciate your time and any insight/ help you can provide.
Thanks
Literature Question concerning "A Rose for Emily" by William Faulkner?
The rose is a symbol of a better time for Emily -- a time when there was love (or at least what she thought was love) in her life. Now, the rose is the symbol of hiding the decay - covering the stench - from the body she keeps in her home. Pax - C

If Jesus rose from the dead why would it matter if his remains were found?
Was it his soul that rose or his intact body? I know the Bible says Jesus has an eternal body etc. but I always thought that his soul rose, leaving his physical body behind and gaining a spiritual one.
If Jesus rose from the dead why would it matter if his remains were found?
I want to answer your question, but I'll have to do so using some Bible verses. I do later explain about this director's findings. I do ask that you look up these verses to see for yourself and to better explain this to others asking the same.
In the book of John, chapter 20, we read that the tomb that Jesus was buried in was found with just the linen (burial) cloths in it. Jesus' physical body had been raised. 1Corinthians 15:6 states He was seen by many(over 500 people) after His resurrection. Thomas, one of His aostles, actually put his fingers into the holes of Jesus' hands and side (John 20:24-29). It was His physical body Thomas did this to, not the risen soul. Jesus ascended into Heaven in His physical body (last verses of each Gospel). There was no point after His resurrection that He transformed to a soul/spirit, which cannot be seen. That's the hope He gives us today - that we can have eternal life through obedience to Him because He was risen.
Back then, if you were wealthy you owned a tomb or burial plot. Jesus' family was by no means wealthy. He was buried in Joseph of Arimethea's tomb because Joseph was a very wealthy man and a secret disciple of Jesus (John 19:38).
What this director claims is Jesus' family tomb cannot be so because of the wealth issue. Mary, Jesus' mother, lived w/the apostle John after Jesus' death as was custom back then. Jesus requested while on the cross for John to care for His mother (John 19:25-27). It's historically recorded that she lived w/John until her death.
I hope this helps.
If you have any other questions, feel free to email me. I love the Bible, the Lord, and sharing that w/o pressure. :) It's very educational.
Reply:It was his spiritual body the rose, physical bodies do not, and as a catholic it makes no difference to me, because it is his wise teachings that I believe in.
Reply:The bible states the tomb was left empty, so the claim is that it was his intact body that rose from the dead.
If his remains are found (and are proven to be his), it proves that he didn't rise from the dead.
Reply:yeah I don't see how it proves anything because most people do believe Jesus did exist. They just do not believe he was anything more than an average man with a message.
Reply:some christians believe his body rose with his spirit, if they found his body, it would debunk this theory and shatter the faith of the nit picky.
Reply:You've not read Mark 16:8 and following very closely. Jesus' crucified body reanimated. The disciple Thomas was even offered the opportunity to put his fingers in the nail holes and his hand in the spear wound. As Paul said, "If Christ be not risen then ye remain dead in your sins." But it seems to me that if believers are so committed to something that defies the laws of physics and biology like a three day dead body being reanimated, then it will take much more than someone's claims they found the body of Jesus to convince Christians they've been suckered. They required no evidence to believe and they will believe no evidence to the contrary.
Reply:Jesus body rose in a justified state, When he ascended to heaven he then had a glorified body, Jesus literal body was resurrected, not just his spirit.
Reply:That is just it, He ascended to heaven on the third day after His death, THERE ARE NO BONES TO BE FOUND. This is just a money making scheme in line with the Divinci Code malarkey.
Reply:no, when the angels removed the stone Jesus tomb was empty. His body rose.
Reply:His intact body was risen. After his resurrection he was seen by many people and he ate fish with his disciples. His body arose not just a soul.
Reply:Jesus manifested a material body for Thomas who expressed doubt. So it would have been a physical body he took to Heaven... Agreed? He did, however, materialize within the chambers at Pentecost, so he had the powers of a God then.
Reply:Some Christians think His whole body ascended....so finding His bones was be monumental.
Reply:I don't think matters of faith need to be determined by physical standards.
Reply:No, dear.
His entire body rose from the dead. Satan is trying to disprove that through none believers. Satan hopes that this will sway those, whom may be riding the boarderline of faith, to his side. This act is pretty desperate. In the book of Acts, Paul had an encounter with a false teacher named Ben-Jesus. for all we know this could be his tomb.
Reply:IT DOESN'T MATTER, but ya can bet your bottom dollar that if this were a discussion about mohamad, you'd see bombs droppin about now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Reply:The resurrection of Jesus Christ reunited His spirit with His body and now He has an immortal, perfected body of flesh and bone.
Any bones found professing to be Jesus' is a fabrication and an attempt to arouse the public's interest for monetary and devilish gains.
Reply:There was no body in the tomb when Mary Magdalene, and the other women came to put the spices on His body.
Jesus did rise physically from the dead.
So it is an impossibility for these bones to belong to the Jesus who is Savior of the world.
This is not the tomb he was buried in!
Reply:they dont have proof that they are his, do they have his DNA sample or something? any remains are probably from a dog or someone unimportant. people just want to undermine jesus so badly.

What is rose water?what product can i buy that contains lots of it?
you can buy it from drug stores and chemists ,but it is no miracle cure
Reply:I love to use the rose water to refresh and moisturize my skin. It works great.
I love the rosewater from www.bulgarianoseotto.com
The price is high but the quality by far is the best i have found. Report It
Reply:You will find Rose Water much cheaper and an Indian or Pakistani grocery store. It is used in some of the sweets that they make and it is considerably cheaper than at a drug store or beauty store.
Reply:ok just to let you know it didn't work for me so I used Virgin Vie daily mousturiser which did. But you can buy it at any beauty store.
Reply:My wife says it's an excellent beauty product for the face. It cleans and hydrates your face leaving a nice scent.
I don't use it for that - I cook - and I use it to enhance desserts, etc. I enjoy surprising friends with a dash of it in fruit and puddings.
You can get a large pack of it at Amazon...
Reply:It didn't perform any miracles for me, but it's so cheap at the Indian store that it might be worth a try. It smells nice anyway, so you can use it as perfume or air freshener if it doesn't work for your skin. I think it's water mixed with the extract from crushed rose petals.

Can you eat dried rose buds used for potpourri? I want to make some Rose Lemon Tea!!?
Like my question, Can you eat dried rose buds used for potpourri?
I want to make some tea, but not sure if these potpourri I see in retail stores (eg Wal-Mart) have any poison or chemical bad for human on it.
If not able to eat the retail store potpourri, where can I buy natural rose buds? I live in an apartment and I cannot grow them. :(
Of course, I will not be eating used potpourri, cuz scented oil are added to it. :)
Thanks!!
PS the tea I want to make is on this page. everything in Chinese though. If anyone'd like me to translate the recipe to you, I will. Just let me know. :)

go to whole foods or trader joes where they have organic things......dont go to those other stores because those definately have chemicals.......unless it says so everything has some dangerous chemical
Reply:They usually make rose teas out of the rose hibs--the seed pod left over after the bloom falls off..is that what you want? Rose hips? they can be bought in most health food and vitamin shops for the purpose of making tea. I don't think I would use potpourri stuff, god knows what chemicals, oils have been added to make the scent or to preserve the petals.
The cooking diva says:" Anyone wanting to buy roses or other flowers to eat should purchase them directly from an organic farm or from a farmer or gardener who has raised the flowers to use as food. " http://panamagourmet.blogs.com/cookingdi...
Henriette's herbal blog says she can located a local vendor for you, there is a web form on this page to fill out and she's supposed to email you a contact, maybe this will help: http://www.henriettesherbal.com/blog/?p=...

Reply:Sure you can make a wonderful smelling tea from Rose petals, but there's just one problem. The tea won't taste like the rose petals smell! If you want to check out the taste of your tea before you brew it, try putting a couple of rose petals under your tongue for a few minutes..............I thought so, Nasty huh! I imagine the store bought rose tea has flavor enhancers and additional flavors to mask that nasty taste, you might want to consider that route, unless you liked the taste. Don't bust up a potpourri though, they are made for smelling, Not drinking!
Reply:it would have to be an organic health food type place--i use roses to make all kinds of food ,but i have 2 grow them my self- to many people use stemic chemicals on roses for problems -and you have no way of telling, I dont think i would use any rose parts unless i grew them my self and knew what i was eating and feeding others.Roses have lots of problems that people use lots of chemicals on ,better safe than sorry.
Reply:yes, there is the preserving chemicals, then the fragerance chemicals. if you read the packs they specifically say "do not eat". food for thought :)
