Why does the Rose Bowl try to Monopolize the National Championship?

See if you can follow this...

In the past the Rose Bowl matched up the Big 10 and Pac 10 Champions.... But in those conferences there are only 3 powerhouses.... OSU, Michigan, and USC. Throw in a couple one year wonders.......Arizona State, Purdue,....and a few more...

Most of the time, one of the powerhouses ends up with the conference championship and no losses... Which sends them to the Rose bowl to play a game with national championship consequenses..

But If these Big 3 teams didnt play in weak conferences and didnt have bowl tie ins with the Rose Bowl.. They wouldnt have as many National Championships.....

And to prove my theory, the Rose bowl is desperately hanging on to thier bowl tie ins, and they reluctantly joined the BCS.... A major improvement over the old system....

Now they are fighting the plus one format.... a precursor to a full blown playoff!!!!!!!!

Can Anyone Deny My Logic?

Why does the Rose Bowl try to Monopolize the National Championship?
By pairing a mismatch they try to pump up either a PAC 10 or a Big 10 team as the National Champion. Neither conference plays a title game, and a mismatch like USC-Illinois only gives false credence to a team like USC who didn't qualify to play for the NC but wanted to lay claim to it.

Let them pull out of the BCS coalition.
Reply:Hey Josh, that is because that any conference besides the SEC IS weak. I mean look at OSU's no conference sched.

youngstown state, washington and...wait for it....AKRON
Reply:Rose Bowl sucks.

Pac10 sucks.

Big10 sucks.

USC sucks.

OSU sucks.

Michigan sucks.
Reply:$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$...
Reply:Because they can.
Reply:It's LA dude! They think they can buy anything they want - players, championships, etc.
Reply:Nope because the problem with the lack of a playoff system can be attributed to the Pac 10, Big 10 and Rose Bowl. I say tell these three azzholes to take a flying leap and everyone else begin the Plus 1 or an 8 team playoff. Then we would see these three azzholes come crawling back ino the fold.

Josh-hut - I guess you don't follow college football closely because he has hit the nail right on the head. If you read Wetzel's column on the subject maybe you could explain to the entire college football community why the Pac 10, Big 10 and Rose Bowl fight this issue instead of a useless rant.
Reply:Yes I can. You think any conference that is not the SEC is weak. This kind of thinking makes you an idiot.
Reply:They are no longer "supposed" to have national championship consequences, it's jackass poll voters that think a big win in the Rose Bowl is better than a sloppy win in the title game and rank Rose Bowl winners #1. And back before the BCS, you could easilly argue the Big Ten was the toughest conference so it wasn't a cakewalk to get there. The weak conference argument only goes so far, USC played it's weak conference (at the time, now Oregon and AZ state have improved) and then won a couple championships against tough teams, OSU won against a good Miami team.

Skip the plus one, go right to 8 team playoffs if anything.
