Have you heard of "Tokyo Rose"? Does this sound like some politicians today?
Tokyo Rose;
She had the best music on her station and most people just laughed. Tokyo Rose during World War II -- the Japanese developed a way to demoralize the American forces. Psychological warfare experts developed a message they felt would work.
They gave the script to their famous broadcaster "Tokyo Rose" and every day she would broadcast this same message packaged in different ways, hoping it would have a negative impact on American GI's morale. What was that demoralizing message? It had three main points:
1. Your President is lying to you.
2. This war is illegal.
3. You cannot win the war.
Does this sound familiar? Is it because
Tokyo Hillary
Tokyo Harry,
Tokyo John,
Tokyo Teddy,
Tokyo Nancy, have all picked up the same message and are broadcasting it on
Tokyo CNN,
Tokyo ABC,
Tokyo CBS,
Tokyo NBC, to our troops!
The only difference is that they claim to support our troops before they demoralize them. Come to think of it,
Tokyo Rose told the troops she was on their side, too!
Have you heard of "Tokyo Rose"? Does this sound like some politicians today?
Wow, Bob...
I am glad that you are supporting our president and our troops 100%. I didn't hear where you are stationed in Iraq? Surely someone as fanatic as you wouldn't be sitting on the sidelines...
Wait... I get it... Baghdad Bob!!!
You are the new Minister of Information!
"We are winning this war! There is no civil war! The Iraqi people love the USA! Our presence in Iraq has made the US safe from terrorism! Mission Accomplished! The Iraqi people support the government! Anyone who doesn't agree with me must be a traitor!"

What type of rose is this?
There are thousands of roses, the chance of you figuring out what they are will be next to impossible. From what I could see is that they are tea roses and possibly floribundas as well.I have over 125 different roses,2 types were there before me,I spent the better part of a year researching and never found a definitive answer.I hope you have better luck than me!
Reply:they look like the American beauty roses to me , but they may be english in Orgin.
Reply:The yellow one looks like Gold Medal but I can't be positive. The red one is very vague. Sorry. Good luck :-)
Reply:maybe the yellow rose of Texas, may be not.
Reply:Wow, those really are beautiful! I couldn't begin to tell you what they are, but this site MIGHT help!

Grey's anatomy: rose & derek question!!?
season 4 of grey's hasnt come out where i'm at yet. i keep hearing stories abt the new girl in town. i wanna kno, what's the situation with derek %26amp; rose?........has he broken up with mer? is he cheating on mer? does rose kno he's already taken? is he still with mer but just flirting wth rose?......or is the situtation too "grey" to tell?
Grey's anatomy: rose %26amp; derek question!!?
rose is a surgical nurse. she was assisting derek in a surgery and that is how she caught his eye. he ended up kissing her while still dating meredith (he was still with meredith but she was going back and forth on the committment). in the episode after that derek told rose that he was still seeing meredith and that it was just a kiss and wasnt going to go anywhere. in the same episode, after derek told rose that the kiss was just a kiss, derek and meredith began contemplating moving in together and building a house. while meredith was making up her mind on building the house george overheard derek and rose talking about the kiss. later on, towards the end of the episode meredith told george she wasnt sure about building the house and that she had some fears. george let the secret slip by saying that she shouldnt be worried about derek kissing rose. meredith gets hurt, of course, and tells derek they are done. derek is irritated so he asks rose out on a date. that was the last episode that was shown.
Reply:I don't think there will be anything to the Rose %26amp; Der situation cuz,I read in TV guide that she is so far going to be in the show for 7 episodes. I know that could change but,I don't think there will be much too it. I think Der really cares for mer and Can't let her go just yet. He wants that person to be Mer
Reply:A few episodes ago Derek was performing surgery on a high school patient and he was talking about cliques and things, and a nurse began laughing. This nurse later turns up to be Rose. They kind of become friends and then two episodes later Derek is performing surgery using a probe thing in the woman's brain. Rose just happened to take three semesters of computer science so she's able to fix the computer. After the surgery is succussfully completed they are in the scrub room and they kiss. The next episode Rose asks Derek out to dinner and he says he can't and she says she knows about Meredith, and that everyone knows about he and Meredith. Later, they are talking about it again and George happens to over hear them. He goes and puts his foot in his mouth and asks Meredith if the reason she doesn't want to move into the new house Derek has plans for (yes, earlier in the last episode Derek shows house plans to Meredith for their house) because of his kiss with Rose. Meredith didn't already know and goes and confronts Derek about it. After some heated "I can't trust you"'s and "You can't trust anyone"'s, they break up. The last scene of the episode is Derek going to Rose and asking her to dinner.
Isn't that messed up?
Reply:In the last episode we saw, he and Meredith broke up and he asked Rose out for dinner.
Reply:Rose is a scrub nurse in the hospital. Her and Derick kissed once. Last episode Meredeth and Derrick broke off their relationship and he asked out Rose again.
Reply:Apparently Rose had been around the hospital for quite a while now and has assisted derek in a lot of his surgeries (i think like 36 to be exact) and she catches his eye finally. In one surgery she helps him fix one of the computers needed for the neurosurgery he was doing, and afterwards they have this awkward kiss (that they both said was awesome... but personally I thought that it was very awkward and weird). Right after the kiss mer tells derek that she doesn't want him to see anybody else but she doesn't know that he kissed rose. rose, however, knows of the mer der situation. in the last episode that aired (no more since the writer's strike), derek breaks up with mer because she found out that he kissed rose and she couldn't trust him anymore, and derek wants commitment. At the end, derek and rose go out for dinner, and der and mer are broken up again.

Rose bushes colliding?
My mother has about 3 rose bushes around our house (she passed away in December). She taught me how to take care of them when I was in high school, so I know the basics.
I remember when she got her third, she planted it closer to one of the others and the next summer, she had two of the same color roses from two different bushes! When she asked someone about this, apparently they told her this could happen with roses.
Now, I planted a rose bush that should produce white roses next year in her memory and FH would like to plant one in memory of his mother, but with yellow roses. I am wondering how far away we should plant them, if there is any truth to what this person told my mother years ago!
Thanks in Advance!
Rose bushes colliding?
The color change has nothing to do with their being planted next to each other. What is probably happening is sucker growth from below the graft was left to grow. Look near the bottom of the "trunk" of the rose. You'll see a collar where the blooming rose (top half) was grafted to a sturdier root stock. Canes growing below the graft will have characteristics of the root stock. These should be cut off, as they may overtake the blooming half that you want.
Reply:It is very possible as the plants are cross pollinating creating new types of roses. This is how they create new species of flowers in the flower business. It is the same concept as interacial relationships in which a child(ren) are produced creating children different from the parents as individuals. I would plant then in a very different location as bees will be rose hopping to and from the ones that are closest to each other.
Reply:pick a distance, and go with it, whatever looks balanced.
I wouldn't worry about them colliding, that sounds ridiculous... go to your library and check out some books on roses. and look up on google, if you don't find anything it's probably because it wasn't true.
use your own common sense, or go to your local garden store and ask them.
happy growing - I would just be happy if they bloomed the next year!!!

Can these rose hedges be pruned to spur new growth??
I have six Freedom rose hedges just planted as bare root specimens at least three weeks ago. The roots were still alive when planted and the hole was dug deep enough and the crowns left at soil line as directed, etc etc. At the same time, I planted a dogwood tree and it how has new tiny leaves coming out at the top. The roses have shown no growth and I tested and was able to snap the branches in half easily and they are dried in the inside. I know that does not mean the bush itself is dead. If the roots indeed are still alive and I removed the dead stuff, do you think new growth could happen?? Should I just cut down until I see green inside?? I am not ready to give up. I have been caring for them well and they are in a nice sunny spot. I am not a rose person (even though my name really is Rose!), but they said these were "easy to grow." Any ideas??
Can these rose hedges be pruned to spur new growth??
Leave them alone, make sure they get plenty of sun and water. Don't fertilize them until you do see new growth, and even then take it easy on the fertilizer - you don't want to burn them out before they get started. Above all, be patient. They will probably need at least a year before their roots are really established, and you won't see much topgrowth until then. Don't think of pruning anytime soon. In fact, I'd wait until they are overgrown before giving them a good pruning.
Reply:It can take quite a long time for bare-root roses to wake up and start growing, and it is possible that yours will come back. Make sure you water them regularly. If nothing happens in 6 weeks or so then they are probably dead. You should prune back any completely dead wood.
Reply:they are dead

Does Pete Rose and Shoeless Joe Jackson belong in the Baseball Hall of Fame?
I do not believe Pete Rose belongs in the Baseball Hall of Fame but I believe Joe Jackson belongs in the Hall of Fame. Although both Rose and Jackson did make bets, Jackson admitted to his wrong doing while Rose lied about the truth for a very long time.
Does Pete Rose and Shoeless Joe Jackson belong in the Baseball Hall of Fame?
They were both incredibly great players, so yes. They made mistakes and apologized and paid for them for a long time. I say if Bonds gets in (one of the biggest cheaters of all time), they should be able to also. Just put an asterisk or a note next to their names.
Reply:Only if new information emerges that exonerate them or show mitigating circumstances. No one is bigger than the game. No one. I used to think -- well, they're dead so let's put em in. But, no, not even then. Some people would do it anyway, knowing that in history no one would care. I CARE.
Rose ain't dead, but when he does die, no Hall.
Reply:Hall of Shame is really what they need to create so at least guys like that have a place they belong!!! Canseco, Clemens, Aroid, Gagne, Pettitte, Bonds and the rest of the clowns that are drug users can go their to!!!
Reply:Rose, Yes. But, I am not going to defend him. Since Yahoo Baseball Answers attracts many gambling questions, who is the hypocrite here?
Jackson, No. Because he doesn't meet the Hall of Fame's criteria of 10 full seasons of MLB play. Change that silly rule and I would admit him in a heartbeat.
Reply:Jackson does, but Rose doesn't, since Rose used amphetamines.

Yet theyre In the HOF and Rose isnt... I don't think thats fair.
Shoeless Joe, its a Joke he's not in, an absolute sad Fu**ing joke
Reply:"Shoeless" Joe was one of the 1918 "Black Sox Scandal" members and Pete Rose admitted to betting on games as a player and manager so both have done things bad enough to be banned, but as players, they should both be in the Hall. Joe Jackson attempted to THROW THE WORLD SERIES along with 7 others.
Reply:I agree with you although not for the same reason.
Reply:Pete Rose IS a hall of famer..He was wrong for betting on his team and baseball. but the hall of fame isn't about being morally right. Betting or not Pete Rose played EVERY game to his fullest and he is THE ALL TIME HITS LEADER..You don't have to like him or what he did but give his GAME PLAY the respect it deserves
Reply:yes, they both do
Reply:Rose- Absolutely not, never.
Jackson- I guess you could make the argument, but I say no.
Gambling is the one thing that strikes at the heart of a sport's integrity. Jackson, by all accounts, led an exemplary life and was genuinely remorseful. I can't understand the people who are always crying that Rose should go in the Hall...I guess everybody loves a bad boy.

Reply:No. They are both monumental losers and are embarrassments to the game of baseball.
Reply:I believe both do. Historical accounts of Shoeless Joe support the theory he never accepted a dime to cheat. And his stats during the series with Cincinnati are inline with what he did day in and day out for years.
We have guys in the hall right now who unashamedly own up to cheating. Gaylord Perry is not shy about the fact he threw 'greaseballs,' balls that were smudged with vaseline.
Rose gambled on the game. Then lied about it. But then came out with the truth. Records of the games he managed do not show any attempt on his part to manage the Reds to a loss in order to make a large pay out. Charlie Hustle stupidly put money on his team to win while he managed them. Was it wrong? Certainly. But if Barry Bonds gets the homerun record without an asterisk attached to it, Cooperstown gets Pete Rose for what he did as a player. It is on a player's achievements that the doors to the hall are open. Shutting them forever because of what he did as a manager is excessive and inconsistent.
If we punish players for their character, you can throw out Ty Cobb, too. A loud, proud racist who, by one of his biographers' accounts, murdered a man.
I don't like that Rose gambled. But he did that after he tallied his 4256 hits. He's an out and out moron with little sense and a goofy haircut. There again, though, he still got 4256 hits. Clean.
Reply:YA they both do
Reply:I truly don't see how anyone can say Rose doesn't belong. The Hall is made up of all the greatest player's who played the game. Rose is in the top ten of all-time greats. Who cares if he made some bets, his biggest down fall was that Barlett Giamati died before he could be reinstated. Also the way he handle the accusations.
Jackson, yes one of the greats to play the game, actually threw a World Series. He played with the sanctity of the game on the games grandest stage. Remember Rose never messed with the outcomes of any of the games he bet on.
Reply:Jackson was never accused of making bets on the 1919 World Series. Research this a bit better, do.
The Hall says No to both of them, and the Hall has the authority to do that. I'm okay with this.
Reply:Pete Rose definately belongs! His stats alone qualify him.Joe however, conspired along with the others on his team to "fix" the World Series. That is far worse than simply placing bets on YOUR team to win.

Rose bushes?
Rose bushes?????????
why do rose bushes turn black and the leaves fall off? they are in the sun and they get watered with the sprinklers? so why are they turning black and why are the leaves falling off???????????
oh yeah and by the way if it helps they get sun all day and do not get watered until like 7:00 or 8:00 pm.
Rose bushes?
That's your problem. You are watering your plants too late. Your bushes have what is called "Black Spot", which is a fungal disease that most roses get. Very aggravating disease that is hard to get rid of once the bush gets it. First thing you need to do is change your watering time to mornings, any moisture left on the leaves overnight will only breed more spots. Second, pick off any leaves you see starting to turn immediately, gather all the dead leaves that have fallen on the ground, get them completely away from the bushes. If the dead leaves are allowed to stay around the bush you will never get rid of this. If getting rid of the leaves and changing your watering habits don't help, you will have to get a fungicide spray specifically for black spot, spray this on the tops and bottoms of leaves.
One other tip, make sure you water at the base of the plant, do not spray the entire bush when watering. An easy way of doing this is to get a soaker hose for your roses instead of your sprinkler. Another thing, roses planted too close together, or bushes that haven't been trimmed properly will stay moist and black spot will thrive.
Reply:roses are very temperamental, they are also very very susceptible to insects and blights. since i can not see the leaves and identify the issue exactly, you can take a leaf to a reputable nursery for assistance.
Most likely you need to do 2 things...an insecticide and some fertilizer. Make sure you weed the area and remove grass from around the base of the plant before you treat the bushes.
Clip off any and all deadened branches. Pruning is very important to the health of a rose bush.
Reply:I read something that if you water plants in the evening the water does not evaporate off the leaves and that can cause problems...since it just sits there all night...

Rose water?
i have some dried rose petals, and i want to make rose water with them. Will this work, or do I have to have fresh ones? please include recipes!
thanks
Rose water?
It appears that fresh rose are best for making Rose Water. Dried Rose Petals will not have sap that is important for the scent
ROSE WATER
#1
Ingredients:
3 cups fresh rose petals (make sure there are NO pesticides used on rosebushes)
1 liter mineral water
Directions
1Put 3 large handfuls of petals into the clean pot.
2Pour the water over the rose petals.
3Cover the pot.
4Place it over low heat and let it simmer until half the water is left.
5Let it cool.
6Discard the petals and pour the liquid (rosewater) into the sterile bottle.
7Cap tightly and store in fridge.
#2
1 C. rose petals
1/2 C. rubbing alcohol
1 1/2 C. water
Simmer rose petals in water for 10 minutes. Strain. Add alcohol (optional, but acts as a preservative. See Note.). Keeps in fridge for up to 2 weeks with alcohol, or, 1 week without. Note: Rosewater without a bit of alcohol will quickly develop a residue on its surface. If you don't wish to use rubbing alcohol, you may substitute Vodka.

Make your own rose water or oil at home with this method. You can make other herb extracts as well. You will need a lot of ice for this project, so plan ahead.
INGREDIENTS:
Clean rose petals or herbs (grown without pesticides)
Water
Ice
PREPARATION:
You can make rose water (or any other herb) and extracts at home with a bit of time and patience.
Place a heavy glass ramekin into a deep stockpot. Fill the ramekin 3/4 full with water to weigh it down. Place rose petals or herbs around the exterior of the ramekin in the bottom of the pot and cover with water halfway up the side of the ramekin. Place a shallow soup bowl on top of the ramekin. Bring the water and rose petals to a boil. Lower heat to simmer.
Place a stainless steel bowl on top of the stockpot. It should be large enough to seal the pot, but shallow enough so that its bottom is above the top level of the soup bowl. Fill the top bowl with ice.
Simmer the mixture 3 to 4 hours, depending on the amount. As the mixture boils, the heat rises and hits the cold bowl, causing it to condense and drip down into the inner bowl. Replace ice as needed as it melts.
When done, the small bowl will contain the rose water (or herb water). It will have a layer of rose oil (or herb oil) that is the essential oil or extract. The oil may be separated from the water.
#4
INGREDIENTS
2-3 quarts fresh roses or rose petals
Water
Ice cubes or crushed ice
1. In the center of a large pot (the speckled blue canning pots are ideal) with an inverted lid (a rounded lid), place a fireplace brick. On top of the brick place the bowl. Put the roses in the pot; add enough flowers to reach the top of the brick. Pour in just enough water to cover the roses. The water should be just above the top of the brick.
2. Place the lid upside down on the pot. Turn on the stove and bring the water to a rolling boil, then lower heat to a slow steady simmer. As soon as the water begins to boil, toss two or three trays of ice cubes (or a bag of ice) on top of the lid.
3. You’ve now created a home still! As the water boils the steam rises, hits the top of the cold lid, and condenses. As it condenses it flows to the center of the lid and drops into the bowl. Every 20 minutes, quickly lift the lid and take out a tablespoon or two of the rose water. It’s time to stop when you have between a pint and a quart of water that smells and tastes strongly like roses.
Good Luck

Rose buds won't bloom, may be shocked from moving?
All our rose bushes are in very large clay pots. About 3 weeks ago we moved all of them from Los Angeles (what a job that was!) to our new home in Las Vegas. It has not been hot here yet (70's, windy) but many of the buds start to come out and then stop and go brownish.
I have applied Miracle Grow rose food, but may be watering too much. They are getting morning and noon sun, in semi-shade after 3 pm.
Any suggestions?
Rose buds won't bloom, may be shocked from moving?
~*~When a rose bush looks healthy but the flowers don't then it may be an insect that is causing the problem. Take a piece of paper and hit the buds over it and see if there are any small bugs showing. If there are then there is a small fly like insect called a midge which lays it's eggs at the base of the flower buds. When the larvae hatch they feed on the rose bud. Thy are very very tiny but they still do enough damage that the flower will be damaged. Any rose insecticide will solve your problem. When you use the spray pay special attention to all the buds as that is where the midge will be. The other reason could be botritis. This is when the weather is warm and then cold at night, so it partially rots the flowers before they open. There is nothing you can do about it and when the weather returns to being constantly warm, the problem will go away. Hope this helps.
Reply:you probably answered it yourself. -give it time; and don't fertilize too much-I'm using the
same stuff.(once a month).
I'm dealing with yellowed leaves, too(and brownish or drying out)
I'm using funny "brick worms" now, which show the moisture level.
There are mushrooms growing in one planter!
Now I'm watering it less. For some reason it holds water way longer than the "twin" pot with
roses bought the same time; and it seems to have more tiny bugs -my ladybugs love it- and
it's easy to water it too much.
Again, give it some time, summer is coming!

Does this rose rooting method work?
Cut a rose stem about the diameter of a pencil. Cut off any blooms. Get a glass of water. Put the rose stem into the glass of water and set it on a window sill filled with bright but indirect light. Change the water every two or three days. Wait. When the rose roots, plant it in the garden.
Does this rose rooting method work?
It works really well exept when the rose stem is woody peel of the woodyness with a knife, another method would be cut a rose stem off and put it in some rooting gel or put it in rooting hormone and lay the stem on the soil and you will have roots.
Reply:I've known some who did it and it worked. I have tried it, but it didn't work for me.
Reply:it does maybe 40% of the time.
Reply:it takes patience but it does work.add a little nitrosol to the water or a hormone gel may speed things up a bit.still change your water atleast once a week as the nitrosol may cause the water to go green faster

Will my rose go into transplant shock? What does transplant shock look like?
damaged (broke some roots) roots while transplanting rose to a bigger container. Rose name New Zealand rose.
Will my rose go into transplant shock? What does transplant shock look like?
iy should`nt, unless you damaged a lot of roots.maybe give it a little fertilizer to help it grow more roots, but not too much. shock looks like wilting maybe some browning on the edges of the leaves.also, try planting a banana peel next to your rose. roses love that. mine got more vivid color and more blooms when I did that.
Reply:well, it may go into transplant shock but that doesn't necessarily mean it will die. when a plant goes into transplant shock its leaves usually wilt. don't confuse this with lack of water, cos then you might overwater it and then it WILL die. you can buy liquid transplant solution, most of them contain b-1 which helps prevent shock. shultz makes a product like that, i think you just mix a capful with a gallon of water. and chances are just as good that it won't go into transplant shock. plants are very resilient and can take more than you may think. pick up a transplant solution and use it, i don't plant anything without it. then keep an eye on it, i bet it will be fine!

the best method to make rose water is steam distillation! you need two pots and you have to some what modifiy their lids. you should fill the first pot with water and cover it firmly but connect it with a tube to the second pot which you fill with rose petal. you have to put the tube that come out of first pot inside the second pot and cover it with the petals so when the steam of boiling water come to second pot it travels through the petals and take the volatiles off the petals. you also have to install a second tube on the second pot's lid to let out the steam that carries volatiles. this tube should be a little long so it allow you to put part of it in the middle inside a bowl full of ice. please not that you should set up every thing on counter top and put down the rest of the tube in a jar or bottle so the condensed volatiles can be collected. so when you boil the water, it start to evaporate and the steam that can not escape the pot will travell through the tube into the petals and go through all the petals and take volailes and come out of the pot from the other tube then it turn into liquid while it passing trough the ice cover and condense into your bottle! you just should monitor this whole process all the time and make sure that water do not get into your rosewater.
you can mix rosewater with chai or with some foods.
enjoy :)
Reply:U dont need hot water besides u get rose water in grocery stores. Try the Asian groceries, u will surely find it.

Freeze dried rose petals VS Air dried rose petals?
Which one you think would be more nice for scattering on the timber table for a traditional, natural and earthy theme?Would it be a freeze dried cream rose petals or air dried cream rose petals?
Freeze dried rose petals VS Air dried rose petals?
Freeze dried look more like the real thing, which would be very nice. Air dried are nice too, but I am sure are also cheaper. I would go with freeze dried if price is not an issue.

Rose tattoo on upper thigh/ hip?
Hey Kelly,
Best thing you can do is to actually go to a tattoo parlor just to "shop". They have tons and tons of drawings, sketches, and complete tattoos arranged on the walls and usually also in big binders at every tattoo shop. You can look through them and get a feel for what you like.
Also, when you've found something you like, you can always "edit" it till it's just right. You can have them color something that started out B%26amp;W, remove color from something that started out rainbow, splice several tattoos together, take pieces off existing tattoos....pretty much whatever you ask them to do, they can do it.
When I went to go get my tattoo, it took me almost 45 minutes to get it looking just right. They do it on paper first, using scissors (for cutting/editing) and photocopiers (for sizing/adjustments) and then when you give them the OK, they put it on your body.
Roses are beautiful things and I'm sure your tattoo will be equally lovely! Good luck!
Reply:Also you can go to some websites to get some ideas as well..take pictures down to your tattoo artist and see what they can do with it as well.
I personally like to check out this website from time to time. Great artwork for a small fee.

The Titanic. Jack and Rose made love but they never got the chance to fall in love?
The Titanic . Rose and Jack / when rose return to tell her storie About the titanic. , to me the most painful part in this true movie, Is when Rose went out on the ship deck that night. , and she begain to think about Jack , the good time they had, they made love, they played together ,they dance, they sing ,but they never had the chance to fall in love, and be with each other until she die that night .in her sleep I believe Rose dream about Jack that night before she die .and she walk up to Jack and kiss him I believe that was the most happy day in her life when she return to Jack the man she truely love in life and now in death.
The Titanic. Jack and Rose made love but they never got the chance to fall in love?
They loved each other -- Rose was willing to give up her life as she knew it and be with Jack. Then after he died she spent the rest of her life fulfilling the dreams they had created together, like riding horses and flying planes. Not really sure what your question is, though.
Reply:huh
Reply:Oh, I believe they not only made love but were Very deeply in love. Their souls were locked together forever when they sealed their love by making love. And not even death could take that away.
Reply:whats the question?
well i think for them it was love at first sight. they never got to develop it into something bigger but they were in love because they risked so much during the whole movie
Reply:You are reading far too much into a movie...
Reply:boring.........zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
Reply:Hold on hold on....you just said they never got a chance to fall in love and now you saying "the man she truly love in life"...doesn't make any sense. I think Rose was wondering her whole life if it would work out for her and Jack.
Reply:I think that Jack and Rose fell in love almost at first sight. It was her mother and obnoxious boyfriend ( can't spell the other word) that tried so hard to keep them apart.I don't know that all this really happened, but if it did I'm sure the out turn was the same way you perceived it. Jack and Rose were meant to be together.
Reply:the theme of the titanic is that jack and rose fall in love at first sight and after all the years she dreams about seeing him again because after like eighty years she tells the story of her and jack
Reply:umm ok??????????they were in love! he gave up his life to save hers! hints her laying on the door in the ocean and him freezing his a@@ off in the water. if thats not love, what is?
Reply:I dont know what the question is but yeah they were meant to be together even though I think its kinda awkward that you have sex with someone after you met them only two days before the ship sank

Reply:Even though they were only together a short time in life I think that they did fall in love!! If she didn't love him why would she hold onto that diamond for so long? TO REMEMBER HER TIME WITH HIM!! If she didn't love him she could have sold that huge rock! Been rich as heck! But her time with him was special and she wanted it to stay that way. And in the movie at the end you think she dreamed about him, well that was her dieing. That was their version of Heaven and they were together again.

Reply:Of course they fell in love but i believe you already answered your own question.

How many rose petals do we need for our wedding?
Our wedding is 5/26/07 and we've decided we'd like to scatter silk rose petals around the centerpiece in just the middle of the table. How many rose petals do we need for each table? It seems like when buying in bulk, quantities are sold in increments of 500-- i.e., 500, 1000, 1500 etc. We will have 200 guests- 25 guest tables, a head table, cake table, and gift table. How many rose petals should I buy?
How many rose petals do we need for our wedding?
500 or 1000 is more than enough for the silk rose petals.
Reply:I don't know how expensive silk rose petals are, but you might want to consider real. You can get dozens fairly cheap, work off some prewedding stress ripping off the petals, and you're not stuck with thousands of silk rose petals that have no further use.
But I'd say2-3k on the silk, better to have too many than too few. 5 or 6 dozen if you're going with real
Reply:I wouldn't spend too much on your wedding sice it will end in divorce. Yes, it will I promise.
Reply:idk but if u send me dital pics of ur wedding ill make a video of ur wedding with sound and all if u want to see what 1 will look like just IM me or email me
Reply:id say you should get 6 for every head thats comeing i know because i worked in catering for dentas catering ....
hey since i answered your question could you please answer mine its tilte IM ASKING MY GIRLFRIEND TO MARRY ME ON FRIDAY plz thank you and good luck

Edit Briar Rose by Jane Yolen Intro paragraph?
I have to write a literary analysis on the book Briar Rose by Jane Yolen. This is my introduction paragraph and my thesis is the last sentence. Could someone edit this for me and tell me if the thesis is good for the book? Thanks to everyone in advance!
Briar Rose, a historical fiction novel by Jane Yolen tells of Becca, a young girl trying to uncover her Grandmother Gemma’s identity. Investigating with only the fairy tale “Sleeping Beauty,” which her grandmother left her, as her clue, Becca deciphers the possibilities and events of her Gemma’s mysterious life. When Becca travels to Chelmno, an extermination camp during the Holocaust, she learns of the astonishing parallelism between Gemma’s fairy tale of Briar Rose and her actual life. Using symbolism, Jane Yolen shows that fairy tales make dreadful reality seem less appalling.

Briar Rose(need to underline book titles), a historical fiction novel by Jane Yolen(add comma after Yolen) tells of Becca, a young girl trying to uncover her Grandmother Gemma’s identity.(Very strange to someone who hasn't read the books. She already knows who her grandmother is- she's her grandmother! Consider revising.) Investigating with only the fairy tale “Sleeping Beauty,” which her grandmother left her,(delete this comma) as her(Try "a" instead of "her") clue, Becca (slowly) deciphers the possibilities and(delete "possibilities and ") events of her (Grandmother) Gemma’s mysterious life. Hm. Very good, on the whole. Your thesis seems kind of out-of-place, though, like you're talking about fruits and all of a sudden you start talking about motor oil. It's a good thesis, it just needs a little bit smoother transition.
Again, good job!
(Let it be known that all my little comments are suggesstions, not orders, nor do they mean that your writing is terrible. I over-analyze things- go through them with a fine-tooth comb, if you will. It's just me being picky, not you writing bad.)

Rose Bowl?
Rose Bowl or Rose Parade? Which do you most enjoy watching and why?
Rose Bowl?
the rose bowl! 3 hours of football is much better than watching a bunch of mechanical floats covered in flowers driving down a street.
Reply:Depends on who is playing in the game and if it is a good game or not. The parade is always good.
Reply:Rose bowl...I quit getting excited about parades at about ten years old, when the balloon animals did not capture my fascination anymore.
Reply:Rose Bowl. The parade is not what it used to be, at least in my eyes.
Reply:My MOM LOVES the parade!

Dyeing a Rose(Blue Rose)?
ok i'm trying to suprise a girl with a blue rose and i know that they really dont exist, so i wanted to know how to dye a white rose blue, what things do i need, what do i need to do, and how long does this take
Dyeing a Rose(Blue Rose)?
I had ordered blue roses from a flower shop, and they were the most beautiful roses I have ever seen. Just perfect. I would call the flower shop ahead of time and they will help you with that. It is alot easier. Trust me.
Reply:The best thing to do is put some food coloring in the vase with water and put the flower in. It should eventually absorb the color. Do a test run with a flower to see how long it takes.
By the way. That sounds absolutely romantic!
Reply:Go to a florist and have them do it. It will be easier and cheaper over all.
Reply:put a lot of blue food dye in a vase of water. I used to do it to carnations. The only problem is the stem will pick up some of the color. However, the petals will soak up the blue water and the food dye is safe enough that it won't kill the roses.
Reply:When I was in elementary school, we did a science experiment where we put white flowers in water that had food coloring in it and tracked how it changed colors. I don't remember how long it took to work, so maybe you can do a trial run. Use the food coloring liberally, though, so the petals have more than just a light tint. Good luck with the girl! :o)

Can a rose grow even if someone cut the rose and the rose doesn't have roots.?
I'm trying to grow a small rose but I cut it can I still grow it even if it doesn't have roots?
Can a rose grow even if someone cut the rose and the rose doesn't have roots.?
it's possible
Reply:you could get some rooting stuff at a garden shop and try -- or call a garden shop and ask them if you can root rose clippings.
Reply:thats called growing plants from cuttings. Its possible with roses, but it will probably die from a fungal problem before the roots are formed
Reply:Make tiny cuts at the base of plant/stem.Dip in water then in "RootTone". Plant in soil and PRAY!
Reply:not a chance

Rose under windscreen wipers romantic??
Me and this girl i work with are both attracted to each other.
We flirt when ever we see each other.
Thing is someone else asked her out the day before i did. She said she would have said yes if i asked first.
Since then we have been on a date/well hung out, and she said she was confused as to what she was going to do.
Would it be too over the top to put a rose under her winscreen wiper on the tuesday night before valantines?
I have a big feeling she is single (as she is flirting a lot more than usual), and will ask on friday when i next see her, but even if she is with this guy still, should i?
should i leave it annonymous or leave a note if i do. I just want to show her i do care about her.
Also is one rose enough?
Rose under windscreen wipers romantic??
omg! That is really romantic! And cute! I bet she'd love it! I think one rose is enough, sweet and simple . . . not overkill. I also like the idea of leaving a note, although I would keep that simple too. If she is with another guy, you still could, but it might make it a little awkward.
I love the idea!
Best of luck :-)
Reply:rose under the windscreen wipers...........pathetic
i'd say right a note and leave somewhere she'll find it (e.g. desk) and express yourself to her. then give her a single red rose before u ask her out.
Reply:i think leaving one rose is a great romantic idea! However i wouldn't leave a note coz i think being anonymous will add excitement and mystery :)

Rose of Sharon isn't blooming?
My mother has a Rose of Sharon bush which always gets lots of buds, but they never develop into blooms. We live in Indiana (I'm not sure which zone that is), but she has many other Rose of Sharon bushes, and they all bloom. What could be wrong? Is there anything she can do to make it bloom?
Rose of Sharon isn't blooming?
She might consider using a rose fertilizer. Rose food can encourage blooming but not necessarily encourage green growth, which is good! I did that with a double blooming rose of sharon and the blooms practically exploded out of the thing.

Reply:I would recommend using plant/tree food this year. Weekly dosage. Then in the fall, give them a good trim. I replanted rose of sharon's in my yard and they came back very nicely. Good luck I hope it works for you, rose of sharon is a pretty tree.

Read Luke 1 and Mary's response to the angel Gabriel. She is quite plain in identifying herself as a virgin.

Have i found a rose ?
from a private collection, may i share with you the reader.
The littlest rose grow's up
To touch your nose.
what a special touch for little rose.
The one day it was given sight,
to look into the heavens.
It saw, the nose.
The nose must be heaven to the rose.
The birds and bee"s do not smell of the fragrance,
given the rose.
No, It was made special for the nose.A.M.H.
Have i found a rose ?
You know, everything works for me but "the nose." That word just has comic connotations, and you can't get around it. Shame. Now, if had been "the lips" (doesn't work for a rose, but think of something appropriate) .... none of that, let's keep it clean ... it would be sensual and romantic.
IMHO

If the Bulls take Rose who do they trade and for who? Miami wants Rose should they then trade their pick???
If the Bulls take Rose they will have a ton of guards, should they trade Hinrick, Duhon Gordon, and if so where do you think they should go?
If they decide to go for Beasley, what moves do you think they should take. That would leave them with too many 4's
Also its known the Heat want Rose/Wade/Marion so if he is not available should they trade the pick?
Whats better for the bulls
A
1. Rose
2. Gordon
3.Deng
4. Gooden
5 Noah
With the option to trade duhon hughes, hinrick
B
1 Hinrick
2Gordon
3deng
4beasley
5Noah
option to trade Andres Nocioni Drew Gooden
Eitherway they need to trade for a C. They have too many 4's playing the 5
If the Bulls take Rose who do they trade and for who? Miami wants Rose should they then trade their pick???
The Bulls do not have a true PG Rose may be that guy. The NBA right now is dominated by good PG, Kobe, Nash, Kidd, Paul, Parker, just to name a few. Get a good PG and build around him. The Bulls have a ton of talented players, but don't have a guy that can take over a game on both sides of the court, and that can get other involved. The PG is that postion. So I asy go for Rose, and shop the other guards around.
The Bulls have the talent to trade and get a couple of decent big guys.
Reply:Well they have Deng or Gooden who are actually fast for there size so no need for beasley. There killing for a pg cause Kirk aint doing a good job so they want Rose. THey'll deal Kirk for shure if rose get drafted and by kirk they can get good players. Miami is gonna deal for tj ford probably.
Reply:Theres rumours that Heat will look to get Kirk Hinrich if the Bulls pick Rose. I hope not. Personally I think they should take Beasley.
Reply:I would trade Hinrich, Thomas and a 2nd round pick for the #2 pick in the draft. So, they can get both Rose and Beasley!
Reply:Beasley is a one time only player. Rose is a every year in the draft type guy. understand what i am saying brother?
Reply:not sure what "candyman" is talking about? Beasley is a double double guy in the NBA....and there are plenty of those guys out there. Beasley has a fairly similar game as Marion, a guy that can play inside and out, but will probably prefer to take more jumpshots than bang inside with the likes of Howard. One thing is for certain, you get guys like Beasley that come out just about every other year, while guys that are true floor leaders and game changers like Rose will be come out once in a blue moon. Mark my words Rose will simply be awesome...this kid can shoot, break you down with his dribble penitration, can find open guys, and best of all plays defense. He is a guy that will make the other 4 guys on the floor better. Beasley will be good, but he doesn't make any of his teammates better.
If I'm the Bulls I draft Rose and make a trade that will bring back a player that plays with his back to the basket...like Brand. They could get Brand by trading Gordon, Noah and a first rounder to the clippers. A lineup of:
Rose
Heinrich
Deng
Thomas
Brand
....would be sick.
Reply:candyman are u a dumbass? rose isnt an every year player eathier is beasley people should just be happy that the bulls will get one of these young and upcoming starts, lets take it the bulls need both, a lost post player that will get dubble teamed and take presure off deng and gordon, thats what thell get out of beasley a 20 an 10 guy, with rose, hes just as special as beasley, hes a true scorer they type of player chicago has needed for the last 10 years hes a guy who will get you 40,50,60 points on some nites and hes a pass 1st point guard like paul, williams kidd etc, so with rose he will make his players around him better, if the bulls take rose expect tyrus numbers to go up, and if the bulls take beasley every ones numbers will stay then same except hinrick he might have more assists so in this case i think rose is that right play
Reply:Personally, I think that Beasley is a no-brainer as he fills the void of a post-scorer and probably a star that the Bulls so sorely need. After that, they have two voids to fill. They lack both a true center and a true point guard. Yes, Hinrich and Noah fill those positions, but Noah should be a forward/center off the bench and Hinrich should be a starting 2 guard who can move to the point when another 2 guard comes in. They are also too deep in the 2 and 4 spots and will have to lose at least a couple of players at these positions. I think they should try to go for Mike Conley to fill the pg spot, he is young with a knack for his position, and Memphis is overloaded at pg with 3 potential starters. The Grizzlies would likely want someone low on pay to replace him at either the 2 or 3 spot... Perhaps Tyrus Thomas and/or Thabo Sefalosha.

Rose Buds and Hanging Baskets?
A teenage granddaughter
comes downstairs for her date
with this see-through blouse on and no bra.
Her grandmother just pitched a fit,
telling her not to dare go out like that!
The teenager tells her
'Loosen up Grams.
These are modern times.
You gotta let your rose buds show!'
and out she goes.
The next day the teenager comes down stairs,
and the grandmother is sitting there with no top on.
The teenager wants to die.
She explains to her grandmother
that she has friends coming over
and that it is just not appropriate....
The grandmother says,
'Loosen up,
Sweetie.
If you can show off your rose buds,
then I can display my hanging baskets.

Rose for Vday?
Rose for Valentines Day?
At my school they are selling roses which will be delivered to whoever you want during class. I want to get one for my crush but I don't know what I want the message to be. I know I will not put my name on it though. I was thinking no message, just a rose but do you have any better ideas? He doesn't know I like him.
I'm 14 by the way.
Rose for Vday?
Say a few words about why he deserves a rose from a random stranger. Like listing the good qualities he brings to your school as a whole (like a warmth of personality, even to strangers, etc)
Reply:lucy... first i live your screen name simply because of the movie i watched its i am sam... well back to your questions... its good if you will write something...a good friendship quotation will do...so not to show it all up to him that you like him so well and you can continue sending him little presents during special occasions the thrill will always be there in finding that mysterious, unknown admirer... goodluck...
Reply:Compliment him. Like, his character, style, friends, personality, looks, whatever really. He'll feel happy.
And, will also probrably want to find out who sent him the rose. He will think that whoever had sent the rose is really romantic, and will want to get to know them.
Good Luck %26amp; Hope you have a great valentines!

Rose Magic?!?
hi
i was just wondering how to make a rose appear from a paper rose like Nicolas Cage in the movie Next (2007). If you can't say it because of copyright laws... then can you point me to the right direction of figuring out this trick? thanks
Rose Magic?!?
The rose, if it is real, likely comes from under the jacket. If it is not real there is a folding rose version which can be produced from a smaller space eg The hand.

Erin is the poetic name for Ireland. And it's a lovely name...I certainly have no complaints being one myself.

Rose flower growers, help needed, what do rose plants really like please read below?
I grow some roses in OR zone 7, and they do fine, but I just bought 5 more and I want to plant them where they will be really happy. I have good soil and raise a lot of flowers and it is hot here in the summer altho it gets cool at night. It seems that if they get any a.m. shade, they tend towards mildew on their leaves and I think they like a.m. sun with afternoon shade, as do most plants here. Any good suggestions besides spraying and all ? Or any new info on raising happy rose plants. They are hybrid teas.
Rose flower growers, help needed, what do rose plants really like please read below?
you already know all the answers on how to grow them but one thing we have discovered is that if you buy some fish emulsion and pour it around their roots they will go crazy..they also like the epsom salt. I find the Old English much easier to raise than the teas plus they do not create nearly as much waste and are much more disease resistant. The way to keep them happy is to prune them regularly and sometimes harshly.
But you already know that.
Reply:Give them as much sun during the day as you can and they don't mind the heat AT ALL (I'm in SC). If the humidity is high or they get 'dewy' overnight you might need to spray an antifungal on them. Water them from the bottom or if you use a sprinkler do it early enough in the day so they are dry by dark.
Reply:Roses do best in full sun. They will get powdery mildew when there is high humidity no matter how much sun they are getting. A great preventative of any fungal diseases is to water them at the base only and avoid getting any of the leaves wet. They really like to be fed and they must be treated to prevent affid infestations and fungal diseases. You mentioned spraying, which should be done monthly OR
Bayer Advanced has a fairly new product out call All-in-One which feeds, handles insects and funguses. The best part is that there is no spraying! This is a concentrate that you mix with water and pour in around the base of the bushes every six weeks and it protects them from the inside out.
I am in Arkansas and we have high humidity plus extreme fluctuations in the weather, so mine perform their very best when I use the Bayer Advanced every 4 weeks instead of every 6. In years with extremely strange springs and if my bushes get black spot before I am able to get on top of it, then I will spray AND treat with Bayer's All-in-One.
Hope this helps! Good Luck %26amp; Happy Planting!

Rose Bowl Football Question?
I have lived in Los Angeles for over 60 yrs. and the Rose Bowl has always been played right after the Rose Parade, BUT, the last couple of years it was played a few days later. I see that this New Years Game is again right after the Parade. Does anyone know why for the past couple of years it was NOT played after the parade? Seems like it would be so very inconvenient for visitors having to spend 3-4 extra days here. Thank you.
Rose Bowl Football Question?
The only time it is on a different day is when it is the national championship which rotates between the bcs bowls
Reply:I'm not really sure about the days, but I know that it's not played on a Sunday (and neither is the Rose Parade) because when the Tournament of Roses first established the parade, they didn't want it to interfere with the churchgoers' times. And they have kept the tradition going since they started it 119 years ago.
Reply:only when they host the nc game and rose bowl***
Reply:The 4 major bowls rotate hosting the National Title game. The Rose Bowl game is a game in it's own. Like this year their is a Sugar Bowl game with Hawaii vs Georgia, and the BCS Title game with Ohio St. vs LSU. Besides it's good for the economy to have extra visitors for a few days.

Rose Tree Question?
I purchased two rose trees through mail order. They looked like dead sticks when they came 3 months ago, but I followed the advice of the seller and planted them and waited. They never did come to life so I have received a refund. Now I have 2' rose branches growing from the base of the roots. How do I save these? I am a complete beginner. I don't even know what "deadhead" means. They are in a flower pot.
Rose Tree Question?
No problem... every one is a beginner for a while.
Rose trees are the "Frankenstein" monsters of the Rose world. The plant you "paid" for is the stuff on the top, that makes it look like a tree. The "trunk" is a not so showy-wild-something or another type of rose, and the roots belong to a third plant, usually a climbing rose called "Dr. Huey". The stuff growing out of the bottom, belong to the roots. If it is Dr. Huey, it's a red climbing rose bush, that blooms only once per year. I wouldn't save it, not ever.
If you're a beginner, and want to try some roses, look at Rosa rugosa (Salt spray roses), they are easy to grow, and quite care free. Also consider miniature roses.
Good luck
I hope that this helps

Rose Tattoo?
Has anybody ever heard of an Australian rock/metal band called Rose Tattoo? If so how do you like them? I actually think they're a good band and it's a shame they didn't make it big in the states, I consider them to be a cross between of the classic Rolling Stones and AC-DC, Rose Tattoo's prime period was in the late 70's/early 80's
Rose Tattoo?
I remember them and they were pretty good and I'm surprised they didn't make it.
Rose Tattoo are an Australian blues/hard rock band, led by Angry Anderson and slide guitarist Peter Wells. Among their best known songs are "We Can't Be Beaten", "Scarred for Life" and "Bad Boy for Love" (co-written by Ian Rilen.) Their first four albums were produced by Harry Vanda and George Young who also worked with AC/DC. Along with AC/DC and The Angels, Rose Tattoo helped establish an Australian rock sound in the 1970s that was copied around the world.
Guns N' Roses and L.A. Guns have both covered Rose Tattoo songs.
Pete Wells, the guitarist for the band, died on 28 March 2006 after a long battle with prostate cancer.
[edit]
History
Australian hard rock combo Rose Tattoo was formed in Sydney in 1976 by ex-Buffalo bassist Peter Wells (on slide guitar); with the additions of former Buster Brown vocalist Angry Anderson, guitarist Mick Cocks, bassist Ian Rilen and drummer Dallas "Digger" Royal, the group made their public bow on New Year's Eve at the local club Chequers, which several years earlier launched the career of AC/DC.
Chiefly inspired by the Rolling Stones and the Faces, Rose Tattoo's ferocious, ear-splitting sound quickly earned a devoted following among Sydney area pubgoers, and in 1978 the group signed to Albert Productions; their debut single "Bad Boy for Love" was written by Rilen, who left the lineup prior to the record's release.
Anderson's onetime Buster Brown bassist Geordie Leech was recruited for Rose Tattoo's self-titled debut LP; after nearly three years of relentless touring, they issued the follow-up, Assault and Battery, in 1981.
After a tour of Europe which saw them hailed as the loudest band to play London's Marquee Club since Led Zeppelin, Rose Tattoo returned to Australia to begin work on their third album; with new guitarist Robin Riley replacing Cocks, they issued Scarred for Life in 1982, subsequently touring the U.S. in support of Aerosmith and ZZ Top.
However, over the course of 1983 Wells, Royal and Riley all left the group, with the remaining duo of Anderson and Leach recruiting guitarists Greg Jordan and John Meyer along with drummer Scott Johnston to record 1984's Southern Stars. Leach then exited to join Wells, Royal and Riley in the short-lived Illustrated Men; Anderson and Johnston continued on as Rose Tattoo, enlisting guitarist Tim Gaze and bassist Andy Cichon for 1986's Beats from a Single Drum.
Anderson finally mounted a solo career soon after, as did Wells. After a long battle with cancer, Royal died in 1991. At the request of longtime fans Guns N' Roses, Anderson, Wells, Cocks, Leach and new drummer Paul DeMarco reformed Rose Tattoo in 1993 to open for the Gunners on their Australian tour; the reunion proved brief, however, and upon completing the tour each member returned to his solo endeavors.
The same lineup, with original bassist Ian Rilen replacing Leach, reformed yet again in 1998 for the "All Hell Breaks Loose!!" tour; by the following year, Leach had returned to the fold once more. Fall 2000 saw the release of 25 to Life.

What kinda rose is this?
My boyfriend bought me a bouquet the other day and it had a rose in the middle. The rose is like really white and has very light but bright pink tips. But its only located on the tip. nowhere else. Im wondering what kind of rose this is.

Cutting a rose from the rose bush?
Where is the proper place to cut a rose from the rose bush? The house we rent has these amazing roses and I would love to cut them to bring inside but I don't know the right place to but them.
Cutting a rose from the rose bush?
Since cutting determines a plant's growth pattern, there are correct and incorrect ways of cutting roses.
The right way to cut a flower starts with proper equipment--clean, sharp shears or pruners and a pair of protective gloves because of thorns. Next, the proper place to cut should be determined. If a large, single, decorative flower is desired, disbud the plants early when the buds are small. Cut stems should be approximately 5 to 10 inches in length, depending on each plant.
Make the cut just above a five-leaflet node to promote a healthy flowering shoot to grow after the cut. Roses have three-, five-, and seven-leaflet nodes. The best place to cut the rose is just above a five-leaflet node because a strong shoot should emerge from just below the cut. This shoot should produce a good flower bud. The second-best cut would be just above the seven-leaflet node, and the third-best cut would be at a three-leaflet node.
Some roses may be harmed by too much cutting. In the spring, reduced growth may result from cutting a long stem, which removes a large number of leaves. Long-stemmed roses can be taken more safely after mid-season.
Some rose varieties may be rooted; however, it is advisable to purchase 2-year old budded plants from a reliable nursery. Many of the new varieties are difficult to propagate. Even if you root the new growth, the new plant will probably have a weak root system. Since many of the new varieties are patented, their propagation is illegal unless permission is granted from the introducer.
Treatment of Cut Roses for Longest Life--All cut flowers have a limited life, but there are some simple steps you can take to extend the enjoyment of your fresh roses. When you cut them outdoors, take a pail of warm water with you and place the roses in it immediately after cutting. Once you have collected all the roses for your enjoyment, take the pail inside.
Prepare your vase by adding a measured amount of pre-packaged floral food in warm water. The old tales of using an aspirin or copper penny don't work. Science has produced a food for flowers (not plant food) that meets all its needs and will help roses last for 7 to 10 days. Too much food is as bad for the rose as too little. Be sure to measure the amount of floral food you mix in the vase. Use warm water, not too hot or cold.
Once you have prepared the vase, you need to cut the rose stem. Roses will last several days longer if you re-cut their stems under water. Place the bottom 2 inches of the rose stem under water and make a sharp angled cut, removing the bottom 1 inch of the stem. You may even see a little air bubble emerging as you make the cut. Cutting rose stems under water can help extend the vase life of roses for several days. Don't submerge the entire rose under water as this won't help and can harm the rose by promoting disease problems.
Cut flowers, especially roses, may wilt prematurely but may be revived and their life extended for several days. A slanted cut should be made an inch or so from the base of the stem while holding the stem under water. Cutting stems underwater prevents an air bubble from entering the stem and blocking the uptake of water.
Reply:Grab some gloves and just cut below the 4th thorn going down.

Cutting a rose from the rose bush?

Rose bush help?
The previous owners of my family's house owned a landscaping company; Unfortunately, they all married off and the plants and grass was left uncared for.
There is /one/ rosebush and I was wondering how I can whip it back into shape so it will fully bloom! I didn't know what it was at first until I saw a single, dead flower on it. My mom said it was a rose. Another thing is that there are thorns all over the bush.
Where do I start? I am extremely new to gardening, keep that in mind. Pictures of the rose bush's condition are below.
The whole bush:

What you should do is create a bed for it by digging out the grass. Once you do that get some Miracle Grow for roses (available at Lowe's %26amp; HomeDepot - they are timed released fertilizer pellets) and sprinkle some down. Next buy some mulch and mulch the base so that it will retain moisture when it is hot out. You may also want to buy Immunox (also available at Lowes). Immunox prevents %26amp; cures diseases on roses and other flowers. Follow the directions on the can... Your plant looks healthy and some rose fertilizer will help it along....When it is hot it is better to water the roses in the morning or evening when it is cooler out.. Good luck :)
Reply:you know...it may just need some simple pruning and give it some plant food like miracle grow for roses. I used it on mine and they bloom beautifully. I'm no exspert, so may also want to try talking to a local nusery. That's what I've been doing and have gotten some really great advice and info on gardening.
From looking at your photo, you may also want to remove all the grass/weeds that near the base of the plant. And be sure to give enough water daily.
Reply:i'm pretty sure that if you severely prune the bush it will regrow beautifully. pruning is GOOD for roses. however, just to be sure, google "care of roses" and you'll find a surprising amount of information. there's probably even a roses.com
Reply:Looks like you have canker on one of your canes. I believe that you have to cut that cane to below the disease.
Prune all the dead in the plant and throw it out.
I like funginex to help with fungus.
Reply:Spring / Summer: Give plenty of water as they need lots of water for healthy flowering. Remove the grass around it and mulch a 2" layer to protect the roots from over heating. Also provide some rose food for good blossoms.
Winter: Before the frost sets in, prune them and cover them up with covers that are sold in hardware stores specially for roses. These are bucket shaped made of thermacoal (degradable ones are expensive). You protect them by placing them upside down and saving them from chilled air. All this can be elliminated if you live in a place which is warm throughout the year.
Roses are high maintenance plants but it worth it if you get some good blooms.
Reply:after you get through with what everyone else above has told you to do ,I would reccomend you putting used cooled coffee grounds at the base of the plant. Roses are acid loving plants and reg coffee is full of acid . good luck .

"Rose Christina Grand" is she manager of omni hotel montreal Canada?
A lot of people get those email. I guess that is standard for Spam. Like they say, if it sounds too good to be true, it is! Here are questions I recommend
* Does the email or job posting direct you to contact an email address that uses a free webmailer (Yahoo, Hotmail, etc)?
* Does the recruiter have a website that matches the domain of the email address? For an email address like name@example.com there should be a website like http://www.example.com and it should be a recruiting company.
*How did they get your email?
* Does the company provide a postal address, telephone and fax number?
* Can you independently verify the postal addresses on a Google search?
*Try a google search with the name followed by scam or fraud
* Are the conditions too favourable ($30,000 per month salary, five star hotel accomodation)?

Rose petal edges turn brown-new English rose-fert./water OK?
Just got J%26amp;P Abraham Darby rose on sale. Upper leaves paler-fert. helped some. Watered heavily. Some improvement. Need part. nutrient?
Rose petal edges turn brown-new English rose-fert./water OK?
Put about 1/2 cup epson salts around the rose and water it in the next time you feed it. This seems to help mine. Yet this time of the year mine seem to do this for 2 to 4 weeks. I always thought they were adjusting to the weather.
Reply:This can be caused by many things. Lack of or too much water, bad ph, chemical fertilizer salts, and so on. Get a cheap ph kit at a garden supply and make sure thats good first. Next water only in the early evening to get best use of the water and don't overwater. After that your best bet is to get a "compost tea" fertilizer. You can go the http://www.terracycle.net/ website to find their product or research making it on the web. You can't overuse it and its better than chemical fertilizers in all ways. Hope that helps.

Can you name this rose?
I have been trying to figure out the rose variety of a certain rose for some time. my local florist sells them but when i asked the name they did not know. it looks almost excactly like the rose in this photograph but it is more orange with red tips rather then yellow with red tips. any clues as to what type a rose this might be? http://www.flickr.com/photos/ranhar2/130...
Can you name this rose?
There is a rose as you describe, called 'Remember Me'. sometimes roses sold through the florists are 'Hot house', roses and don't go well in the garden, be careful which varieties you buy.
Reply:Being one of those local florists, when we order that rose it is called tropicanna, like the sunset, yellow with orange tips...the one that is yellow with red or hot pink tips we call confetti..both hold in the bud stage a long time and never fully open which makes ideal for vase arrangements.

Rose type: I am looking for a rose i found last year on the net?
The rose blooms once then leaves very large thorns on the cane that look like stained glass when looked at through the sunlight. Thought to be exotic, chinese, but can't find it anywhere.
Rose type: I am looking for a rose i found last year on the net?
Rosa sericea pteracantha
How amazing.
I've never seen anything like this.

Hayley Victoria-Rose? Keep hyphenated?
Hi this is Erika's boyfriend. she's sleeping right now lol.
my name choice for our daughter is Hayley Victoria-Rose and i'm not sure if we should hyphenate it or not?
Erika's choice is Scarlett Audrey, which i think is a really good name, and i hope we end up choosing it.
Hayley Victoria-Rose
or
Hayley Victoria Rose
thank you
Hayley Victoria-Rose? Keep hyphenated?
Why don't you just choose Scarlett Audrey then, and you wouldn't have to worry about the hyphen? However, if you don't do this, I would go without the hyphen, or just pick one middle name. Hayley Rose is very pretty, as is Hayley Victoria. You don't need both.
Reply:The hyphen is not bad, but I'm not sure if it would cause problems when filling out paperwork or computerized documents. That is something I would look into if you are seriously considering.
Reply:Both names are absolutely adorable!!!
I am a huge fan of two middle names, its really a cute idea, only thing is when a child has two middle names you rarely hear them both. The hyphen looks cute, but it may be trouble in the long run, when it comes to filling out documents, state test, etc.... just something to thing about.
Hayley Victoria is also cute by itself, especially if both names have meaning/background for you guys....
Congratulations !!! :) and Good Luck!
Reply:I wouldn't keep it hypenated.
With Hayley Victoria Rose, she has two middle names, so in the future she can use either one of her middle names. I'm not a fan of hypenated names either, so I like Hayley Victoria Rose.
BTW, I really like the name Scarlett Audrey. It's such a pretty and elegant name. I like it better than Hayley Victoria Rose, no offence ;)
Reply:I like the Hyphen..
Reply:I say hyphen, it keeps it unique and that way she won't have 2 middle names if you choose it. Both pretty names :)
Reply:Hayley Victoria Rose without the hyphen is the best way but I have to say that I like the name Scarlett Audrey the best!!
Reply:My advice would be to not hyphenate. Scarlett Audrey is okay, but I know a not-very-nice person called Scarlett, so I couldn't use it (although Audrey was my grandmother's name). My parents had a similar problem before my brother was born. My mum wanted Anna-Olivia if he was a girl, and my dad hated the hyphen and wanted it to be Anna Olivia, but both names being the first name. Their problem was solved when a boy came along. I really like Olivia Rose, and I really don't want to hyphenate that, although that will probably be how other people spell it.
Hayley Victoria Rose is a beautiful name, and I think it flows better than if there was to be a hyphen in there. I think hyphens really throw people. It's probably safer not to use them and the child can put them in later in life if they really want to.
Reply:First of all...both are absolutely beautiful names!!
They all go together so well!
I don't think it's neccessary to hyphenate your choice, however. There's nothing wrong with having more than one middle name and personally, I just think hyphenated names look kind of weird (I mean it makes sense if you're doing two last names, but other than that). It wouldn't be nearly as pretty to write if it were hyphenated, either.
Hayley Victoria is pretty too (My niece's name is Victoria).
Whatever you decide, it will be beautiful! Congratulations and maybe someday you'll get to use both names anyway! :)
