Rose Bush! Trim and Bugs?

Can I Trim My Rose Bush Now Since It Is Spring?

I Have Only Trimmed The Rose Bush In The Fall. Now I See It Is Really Wide And Tall. How Do I Treat The Bugs/Insects On The Rose Bush? The Rose Bush Has Holes And I Am Thinking It Is Some Type Of Bug/Insect. I Have Only Had The Rose Bush For Two Years. Home Remedies Are Cheaper Any Ideas?

Rose Bush! Trim and Bugs?
if you trim your rose depends on what type of rose you have.also is it blooming yet if so do not prune until fall.if you dont see the bugs eating your planti suggest using seven dust it is a pretty generic pesticide.
Reply:First it depends on where you live but if you are in zones 7-8 then you should trim your rose bush all the way back in the early spring BEFORE it blooms and starts getting all the new foliage. This time of the year you can trim it just don't except new roses....it is better to wait.

Go to lowes they have a great natural bug spray that won't harm the enviornment or anything else that works great. It sounds like you have worms or aphids.

Then buy some marigolds and plant them in the general area of the bush or around them....not on top just around them. Marigolds are natural pest repellents and repel a great deal many of bugs/instects. They won't repel aphids or mostiques though.

And for a bonus the blooms are high in vitamin c and are perfectly edible!
Reply:There are tons of stuff on the market, but as far as home remedies. Start with putting banana peels under your rose bush, bugs don't like the chemicals released by the browning banana peels. Look up a TV show called" Gardening By the Yard....with Paul James".....it shows on HGTV on Saturday and Sunday mornings, he has got great advice for home-made spray remedies. Good Luck!
Reply:use this stuff, it's great for everything! follow the link to check it out! u can find it at walmart or lowes! i use it and it works great!
